Skaters, Your invited to join us for a skate tour along one of America's most beautifully kept skating secrets, in a pristine mountain setting.

4th annual "July 4th" Idaho Skate Trip: both SkateNow and Skate Journeys play host to this informal 74 mile skate along the Couer de 'Alene rail trail.
This is an informal skate, not a race. Distances covered average 25-50 miles per day, or more if you are adventurous enough to do it all in one day! :P
We meet informally, and all participants are responsible for their food, lodging, and transportation, etc.. Skaters can coordinate and find other skaters of similar abilities to skate along the trail with. Skaters should feel comfortable going an easy 20-25 miles, but even new skaters can do smaller sections and enjoy the scenic trail. In the evenings, we get together for BBQ's & hot-tubbing, and swapping skate stories! The trip is based out of Kellogg, ID. Rooms at Morning Star Lodge at Silver Mountain Resort are offered at discount rates for skaters. Dates: July 2- July 8th.

More info on the Idaho skate Trip(where, when, what to bring, et., including links to past event pics and video) can be found at either: http://www.skatenow.net or http://www.skatejourneys.com

If you'd like to be on an email list for notification about the trip and updates, write to : skatenow@att.net, and include 'Idaho' in the subject line.

See you on the trails!

Hi Skaters! just a few short days and we'll be putting miles and miles on the wheels in Couer de' Alene. If you have no plans over July 4th, come join SkateNow & Skate Journeys in Idaho for a fabulous 3-4 skate trip.

Updates: Trail closure due to snow/spring run off: approx 18 mile between Harrison & Bull Run, otherwise trips can be made around this section quite easily on the remaining 56 miles. Also, there is interest in skating the Centennial Trail near the town of Couer de' Alene - which is approx 50-60 miles in length. So, there is plenty of skating awaiting skaters in Idaho.

Weather: looks to be low 80's over the weekend, much cooler than past years.

See you skating in Idaho!

I'd love to do this skate sometime. We were in the Canadian Rockies in 2005 and got TV weather reports from Couer de' Alene. The beauty of the part of the country is fabulous and I have a skate bud who rolled it 5 or 6 years ago. I know you'll have a ball.

Hey LezSk8 - what are the odds I met your skating buddy - that is if he was from Florida 4+ yrs ago. Met a small group from BC too. We keep returning every year, seeing new faces, skating new places. It's truly a beautiful area to skate.
This yrs trail closure did not deter anyone from getting in lots of miles! It was comforting to see the "active" repair happening in those areas that were damaged due to heavy winter snow/spring run off..we skated up as far as we could beyond posted signage. Fortunately they are repaving, and nicely, not just slopping down a bit of asphalt here and there. Our thanks and gratification to the Idaho Friends of the Couer d' Alene trails, and local trail maintenance crews for their professional work! Next year we hope to get skating end to end again.

keep on rolling.
