I've searched the forum but, I don't see much feedback on these boots. Since they're similar to the 195's, do they have the same issue with the slipping in the heel? Can I get a review or feedback from those that have skated this boot?

I have two pairs, and I love them a bunch... they seem to be cut a little higher in the ankle than my 195s, but my 195s are really old, so the comparison might not be valid with newer boots.

My heels do not slip, but I never had problems with my 195s, either, so perhaps my feet just agree with them more...

...is the most important thing with 195's.

I used to have a size 9 195 that used to slip a little. I quit wearing them because I was afraid of rubbing a hole on the inside heel area.

I measured my foot on a brannock device and found out I'm actually an 8.5.

I got an 8.5 195 and had NO issues. I'm guessing 811's might be the same.

No slipping on my 811.

Sizing is important on the 195/811

I'm not so sure about that... here are pictures of the toes, one is made like a bathtub, the other is kind of like a burrito:

The 811 looks more like a cut 395. I dont have any problems with my heal slipping when I skate.

IMO the 811s fit more like a 395... a low cut 395. The toe box is made very much like a 395. The toe box in a 195 is much wider and bigger. Like Fresh Eddie said one is made like a bathtub and the other is like a burrito.

So if I wear an 11.5 in the 195, do you suggest I go with a sz 12 811?

I need a 1/2 larger in the front flap type boots like the 811 or 395.

Fresh Eddie, are your 811s smaller than your 195s? Did you notice a 1/2 size difference in the fit?

It is tough for me to compare them directly, since they are two different sizes, but I would think a 9.5 would still fit in the 195s for me. Even in a ten, they stay put on my feet, you can see where my toes come to the ends in the boots in the picture (toe dent!)

I do know that a lot of people have trouble with where the seam goes across the top of the toes in the front flap models. I think I might be one of the lucky ones, although Riedell is making some boots wider in the front now (in answer to the roomier fronts on Vanillas?) My bright green skates (which are the older style boots) are the same size as both of my 811s, (which are both newer) but required a lot more breaking in as far as the sides go, whereas the 811s were dreamy right out of the box.

If someone told me I could only have one kind of boot, it would be the 811... but everyone's feet and preferences are different, so YMMV.

...and the 195s definitely feel lower in the back than the 811s to me. I'm not sure if it is because they are older, or if it is just the way they are made.
