Hey Johannes,
instead of high jacking that other thread I've started this one.
Mate the front wheels stay off the ground about as long as your toes do when walking or running. You land with the heal then the toes follow. So not very long.
Here are some pictures of my latest prototype Primo Deano tires for outdoors or indoors. These are my 96a formula.

Sadly I am just about to cut them down a little for a race meet tomorrow. I skated them a few weeks ago but they are just too big and I can't lean my skates enough. So hopefully 68mm will give me the clearance I need.

Advantage with heal and toe technique.
Simple skate low and try and land your foot flat. Hard ha.
Heal and toe skating you probably already do it but did not realize it.
Try getting down low just with shoes on and stretch your left leg forward as if you were skating and try and land it flat. Now try it with landing the heal. Much more comfortable ha.
I'm half guessing you have just realized you have been heal and toe skating for years.
It's just easier to notice when you are skating low and fast.

So, it must be looking a bit like running. Maybe I did it already a bit. But I have to work on staying down. I guess it is together with a little jump each step. I have also to work on that subject.
But I hardly sprint bec. the distance (http://www.skatelogforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=324031&postcount=12613) is on the steady side.
But in skategroups I try to sprint sometimes, but not very good, I think.

Looking nice in white whith the black shoe.
That is the disadvantage of the Boen-Special. The Boen-Speed have more space.

What is that for a shoe?

Well that boot is a Bont prototype I made at work a long time ago. You can paint the material any color you want. Its covered with a material used in the aviation industry.
Nothing to exciting about it the base is Kevlar the inside lining cow leather and the black trim is also leather. Very light and stiff.
Mate when you skate next look at how you land your left skate on a long stride. You should notice your rear wheels land first followed by the fronts. The lower you skate and the bigger the stride the easier it is to notice.
