"I've just placed this in the general quad forum, but though it was worth posting in here as well."

Hi all.
I've had these wheels (Vanguard Boomerang 70mm outdoor wheels) about a year and have been skating them fairly regulaly outdoors. Mainly pretty smooth ashphalt. They were NOS, so are probably at least 25 years old.

I took the bearings out today for a clean and saw that the hubs have alot of small cracks in them, some longer and larger than the others. I am fairly sure they were not there 12 months ago, but not 100%. The dirt obviously makes them far more visible.

Has anyone had this before??

Can I expect a complete hub failure in my future or is this just one of those things that if monitored should be ok.

I don't jump or put any huge loads through them, just laps at a decent speed.

Any thoughts?

My green Boomerangs have had cracks like yours from the beginning. It hasn't been a problem in two years.

Thanks for that. I'll keep an eye on them and just keep using them.
