Hey, I know that guy! He is Jean-Yves Blondeau from France, who was living in Frankfurt Germany the last time I talked to him. Here is a rare photo of Jean-Yves NOT wearing his Buggy Rollin' suit. This was taken at the Lausanne Roller Contest in Switzerland which was also the Downhill World Championships in 2001. This is not the most flattering photo of me, and you can almost see my underpants, but I love this picture anyway. While I was interviewing Jean-Yves, one of the aggressive pro skaters offered to take a photo of us together, and on an impulse he swept me up in his arms for the picture!

http://www.skatelog.com/photos/skaters/jean-yves-blondeau/jean-yves-blondeau-9010345-400x300.jpg

I also have pictures of him suited up in his full body armor during the downhill world championships that same week but I can't find them this morning. I'll have to dig through my photo CDs.

Here are his Official Web sites:
- Jean-Yves Blondeau - Original Web Site (http://www.chez.com/buggyrollin/)
- Jean-Yves Blondeau - Newer Flash Site (http://www.buggy-rollin.com/)

I asked Jean-Yves if he could make one of those buggy rollin' suits for me and he said yes. It would be rather expensive, but it could be done. Can't you just imagine how wild that would be!?

So, you like rollerblading? Imagine it, over your whole body. In a suit thingy. With 31 wheels. Able to go 60 MPH. Able to do roll in just about any position. Still imagining? Well, it would look something like this...

And, of course, what would this be without a video, so I present to you:

Just came across this on YouTube. I'm sorry if this has been posted before.

It's Jean-Yves Blondeau, aka Rollerman; with wheels in many different places. Is this the future?

Rods, we have had some discussion about Jean-Yves, but since that was buried under a bunch of other posts I went ahead and merged your post into that thread. It's aways fun to read about him again and view his videos!

I should have searched. I had a feeling I could not be the first to find this. Thanks, Kathie.

If or when this happens I trust we will see the pictures from the boardwalk? Please.:)

Don't know how many of you have seen this, but perhaps we need to make a "Body Blading Forum"...
Looks like so much fun.

Thanks weirdUserName! I love watching videos of that guy. His name is Jean-Yves Blondeau and I was delighted to finally meet him in person a few years ago in Switzerland. Here is more information about Jean-Yves and one of my favorite photos of all time - me and him together (I never miss an opportunity to drag this picture out and show it off again!)

Hey Gang......thanks for posting this info on the rollerman. I saw a small segment on him on SBS TV Australia.Jean-Yves was in France at the time of filming but I did not catch his name and had been searching the net for months trying to find anything on this crazy guy.
Thanks all for sharing cos now I can finally show my friend the rollerman I had been babbling about. I am sure they thought I was stretching my imagination when I told them this guy can skate on all fours and front and back ...now i have solid proof that I did see him:D

I've seen this in the past, I'm interested to know what kind of speeds he gets up to on the mountain run. I don't think I would try that.

I certainly couldn't imagine a more heightened sensation of speed without leaving the ground. I'd be interested in trying it, just not around a bunch of curves like that.

He needs a cod-piece with a wheel on it.

They mentioned speeds in excess of 60mph, I'm not sure if he goes much faster than that. That's still really crazy that close to the ground.

He needs a cod-piece with a wheel on it.

Hah, oh wow... that would be excellent.

Not an area I'd want soaking up road irregularities, personally :p

The equipment is designed in Paris. The video is from Switzerland. Equipment is expected to cost 1500 euros, when available to the public (that shown in the video is custom built, and much more expensive).

This guy has been around forever.
First saw him at the skate festival in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1995. His first prototypes were scary.
He looks much more safe and maneuverable nowadays.

You should watch his videos. I will say that I think the picture you posted is a new suit. Here is a video of him on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVrlA3-f29g). There are tons of related videos of him as well.
