View Full Version : Explain your screen name

speedysktr

This is a do-over from the old forum, but it's worth repeating. Mine is pretty simple to figure out, BUT most people don't know (or care) that the all lower case is on purpose and that it pisses me off when people screw it up and call me speedyskater or speedysk8r etc. So there. Btw, it doesnt really piss me off so if you were about to go off half-cocked, hatching plans to rattle my cage with intentional misspellings; do your worst. That aside, explain your screen name.

ps. for those of you that changed your name from the old forum to this one, now's your chance to 'fess up.

Hmmm Lets see, Ice + Ramps = Ice Ramps..... all kidding aside Ice Ramps is a project/ business I started earlier this year but it is a old Idea I've been kicking around since 1995 and finally decided to do something with it.

As far as old screen names go I honestly don't remember, but if I had to guess it may have been Ramp N Speed, the name of my old skatepark in Birmingham, AL I had opened during a break in service from the Army in 98.

simple first initial + last name. I've used it in enough forums that it's become second nature.

October 25th, 2006, 04:41 AM
At the time their was a song from Dr. Dre featuring Eminem. One part in the song goes "Nowadays every body wanna talk, like they got something to say but nothing comes out when they move their lips just a bunch jibberish and Mother_______ wanna act like they forgot about Dre."

Well at the time I need to sign up to Ebay and lots of names were taken up and I was 18 years of age at the time. So I put 2 & 2 together and ended up with Jibberish18. I've had it for so many years on so many different websites that I have to use it.

An ex-grilfriend of mine hid our relationship from her family and she told them I was a girl named Amy. I won her a pink stuffed dog at Knott's Berry Farm and she started calling it Amy too. She left it at my place because she didn't want her family to find out, Amy's Keeper(I just like underscores)

This guy I had dated was from Peru, and he came up with "hikkergirl" for my msn email account because I love to hike. In spite of his type -o, I kept it

LOL at mentally dull!

On the old forum many of you knew me as "Camaro Driver." I chose that because I post the way I drive, fast and with a lot of style. My new name is actually an identity given to me by the federal witness protection program. It seems to be working out for me. Wish me luck, I think someone's knocking at the door.

fablemaker2: I like to write. Once, someone special told me, "write me a fable, and I'll make love to you!" I think I wrote about 25 fables for her in great haste, but she never followed through on her promise, so I called her a fablemaker. I continued to "make fables".

The "2" part. I was mentally dull when trying to reregister on the new forum here, and it kept telling me that account already exists. So....I added the sequel to the original fable.

N.B. I am not now, nor will I ever be, affiliated with another user here whose screen name resembles my state of mind when trying to reregister.

"LezSk8!" came out of years of extensive market research, sparing no expense (or was it seconds and $ 0? ) to find a really cleaver name that would capture what I like to do. I'm sure everyone figured that out. :p Even Mentally Dull from London gets it inspite of the language barrier. :D

Nothing too creative – as senility sets in I need as many reminders as possible. For any Monty Python fans, I have a song to remind me. Yes, "I steal from the rich and give to the poor....".

First verse:
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Galloping through the sward
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
And his horse Concorde
He steals from the rich
And gives to the poor
Mr. Moore, Mr. Moore, Mr. Moore.

There is a very funny clip with the song included if you care to view it:

I remembered someone screaming in a rollersoccer promo ;it's the skill man, its the skill !! ;In 2001 on the rollersoccer federation website.
(Its not hard to figure out, it came up like shitting) , trying to figure out a name on '' youtube''
I think the fist part of the name has a lot to do with what skating is about
especially rollersoccer', and that's what I wanna do the most(second part) .At first I was forced to give up long distance skating because of lower back problems in 1998, after five years of intense skating.
So I started to play around with a ball to variate the bending off my back and this developed more and more people where calling the police , there was a mad man in there street endangering there precious automobiles , they came under cover , In 2000 I went searching on the Internet if rollersoccer existed , and it was ! From that time on ,I knew I'm not the only one, and I'am still developing the skill of rollersoccer and now after 7 years , young people become interested in what they see, and are progressively enthusiastic, too me its a thrill to see young people, ''pop out there eyes''
Still Í'm a bit restricted by back problems , but its under control.

gbo- first initial, first two letters of my last name. One of my sisters coined it when I got married and it's stuck. Closest thing that I have to a nickname that I know of, other than 'mom'.

You might try that. You can always claim the proposal was a figment of their imagination once the ink has faded. (I'm kind of wondering why my husband hasn't tried that one. I'm sure he'll figure it out before too long.) ;)

For every one else, if your screen name is in fact your real name, fyi, we get it. ;)

I have to ask if anyone had gotten the fact that mine contains my last name. Hehe! :D

Back when my now-husband and I were still dating, and we'd talked about getting married, and it was definitely going to happen, I started adopting his last name. I had used my first initial and maiden name for a long time, so it seemed like a good transition to using what would become my new last name. :)

When we met, it was obvious to both of us that we were going to get married. He really liked me using his name, and our friends started saying things like "your wife" or "your husband" instead of boyfriend/girlfriend. We're a perfect match...and it was completely natural that we would be together. :)

So my screenname is something along the lines of "Maher's Woman". :D

...yeah, I guess I have a sci-fi nerdy side, so what!? Don't make me break out the can of dark side on you.

By that reasoning, I should be named chocolatechipcookiestorm or browniestorm. I'll have to think about that.

I don't eat doritos very much. It's a buddy's joke.

Doritos are very healthy, not the spicie sauces whit doritos.

Okie, short for a farmer or one headed to california to pick oranges during the dust bowl years of the great depression.(only know about 100 words, able to spell your name) Also famous term from a country western hit song Okie from Muskogee. I'm in Muskogee, retired 7 rinks in a 60 mile radius and another new one being built. 4 full seasons, tornado alley( I have a spot in the local beauty shops shelter) bicycle paths everwhere built on old railroad track areas. Car and motorcycle race tracks everwhere. Indian owned turnpikes to travel all over the state 75 mph plus. Indian casino's at the entrance and exit of most citys, good cheap places to eat. Gas is cheap compared to other places, they get it out of the ground here. Meat is locally raised, huge farmers markets. Lots of dance halls, bars, senior activitys, bus transportation. ONly bad thing???? Maybe good? All the women in my age group are still married, headquarters for the Bible Belt,so they stick it out till they kick off. Free college 4 year education at state universitys if you sign up in high school, good grades and no dope fien stuff (like California in the 60's) Home prices real low, three bedrooms 2 baths average 70.000s. Wages are low also though. But plenty of work. Anything you want you can get here! I have traveled and live in 9 different states working for 34 years so was not to hard for me to hangout here, but I take off for 3 or 4 months during the freezes.

My screen name cehowardrc51 comes from my first 2 initials, last name, and lastly, by not least, the SEXIEST MOTORCYCLE ON TWO WHEELS!!
A HONDA RC51

To those of you not familiar with motorcycles, and those of you who have never heard of an RC51, let my briefly explain.http://mysite.verizon.net/cehowardrc51/badteeth.gif
The Honda RC51 is a V twin, racing motorcycle, that is/was sold to the public in the years, 2000 to 2006. They don't make them anymore. I rode this bike on the street and racetrack. She has long been destroyed. She die a racebike's death too. On 4th of July, 2006, we crashed together going through turn 10 at Summit Point Raceway at 100+ mph hours. We both flew through the air over 100 mph, I survived the crash, but my beloved RC51 didn't..:(

The sound of this motorcycle was like a symphony, Harley riders were jealous to the core!!:D

We use to have a dragon as a mascot, but they did away with it for some reason. Now we have some guy that walks around with a flame as a head, he looks like a walking, lit match stick. I like the uniqueness of being the Blazers but wish the school would market it better. If you look up UAB, they are also the Blazers and they do a better job with logos and marketing.

Working in web tech, I'm part of waaay too many forums. Most forum software will let you change your "screen name" yourself via your user profile. The name you type to log in remains the same; but the name that displays on the screen changes. That way, you don't lose your post count, and you don't have to remember eleventy different login names for all your different forums.

Jennie is actually what's on my diploma. And depending on what other piece of "legal" document or state issued ID, Jennie may or may not be on there. Why didn't I tell my parents to just put that on my paperwork when we immigrated here. That would make many things much easier.

so they gave you the Jennie name,,,,,lets hear your birth name that might be a lot more interesting :D

You ask why such a creative guy like me has such a lame sn... t is my first initial, then my last name.

Great minds think alike!

What gets me is how many people will say "Well jgwinner" .... when I sign 'John' at the bottom of every post. You'll note it's not a signature, I actually type it out. That way, you KNOW it's always me iff you see it.

Plus most people assume that you wouldn't put your real name on a post, lest you get menacing calls at home from race organizers whose work you criticize...

This will shock some: I've never seen Speed Racer

When we grew up, there were 3 TV stations in Alaska, and one was PBS. So stuff got 'left out' as there wasn't enough air time.

Then later my Dad put in a rule that we could only watch 3 cartoons on Saturday morning.

So I don't know if it just didn't make the cut, or if it just wasn't shown.

my name is phil. way back when before the internet, there was a guy who had "phil fine" as a vanity plate on his car. once i stumbled upon the 'net i saw no one was using it so i took it for myself. later i was editing for some reason, eraced the name and couldn't get it back, so i changed the spelling to philphine.

Been using mine for at least 6 years... pretty simple, I used to collect comic books & Chaos Comics was my favorite publisher until founder/writer Brian Pulido sold the company, the rest are just initials which do not (in my particular usage) stand for Diamond Star Motors.

I've posted this other places on this board, but I'll do it again. I used to hang out at Sherman Square Rink in Reseda. Haven't been able to find any photos, but I did find this video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5222266586064331371&q=%22sherman+square%22&total=3&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0) of the last skate session there before they tore the place down. I think the rink has a cameo in the movie Boogie Nights but don't hold me to that.

When asked about it, I say it's French for "Stop talking and start skating!" Of course it's not, but it is my (failed) attempt to jazz up a Sat. morning rec skate on a local trail. Kind of cheesie, but I like it anyway, so...

LezSk8! :)

darthblader

Darthblader; a screen name I've been using since '99 or so when I first joined Kathie's about.com site. People initially think I'm a Star Wars geek when in reality I'm a different sort of geek altogether. It just has a ring to it, IMO...:)

And poisonous plants are kinda cool, twisted

ttmanta

Okay, well a lot of people here make up something about their real name or what they do. I joined way back in the old days so it's hard to remember what I was thinking at the time. On my daily skating around the BWI airport trail loop the other day, where I have skated 5500 miles since I started skating 2 years ago, I was pondering this thread and my screen name. Sometimes when I skate in the mornings there aren't many people on the trail so it gets boring. It is these lonely times that my mind wonders off as the miles tick away. I guess I am lucky to have a flexible job so I can skate during the day while everyone else is at work. As long as I have my cell phone to be available to take .....

I'm sorry, what was the question again?

shok
March 26th, 2008, 05:05 PM
Mine comes from back around '87 when I stepped onto a school bus, did something stupid that scared the willies out of the driver, who later exclaimed "you're a shocker!". It stuck. Been called it ever since. Even to this day at work, somehow they found out it was my nickname.

It evolved and lost the "C" to accomodate early arcade hi-score machine spaces where you could only enter 3 or 4 letters. Also the old BBS services required short logins.

My parents have said it'll even end up on my grave's headstone. They had problems with people calling, wanting to speak to me, but not knowing my real name!

I can't believe i missed posting here. My screen name is because I like Hello Kitty and my friend was trying to think of a "Skate gangsta" name for me and I for her, so we could put them on the 70's style jerseys we bought...I thought it kind of looked rollerderbyish. As a result we give a skate gangsta name to anyone who wants to skate with us, it is fun! :)

Bravehart
March 27th, 2008, 04:41 AM
My name comes from being the only one in my Jeep Club to tackle the Rubicon trail with a fully-stock 2004 Jeep TJ. Everyone else had modified cars, ie 2" lifts, rock tires and such. I came late and unprepared in a brand-new Jeep Rubicon, new-car smell pungent. Despite two breakdowns and a bent bumper, I made it all the way through.

Named Bravehart by the guy who said, "You're insane, like that warrior dude Bravehart!"

Unfortunately I'll never be called "Speed Demon" or even "The Fast Guy" by anyone in my club, as my car has a top speed of 58mph.

NaNaDo
March 28th, 2008, 05:47 PM
My screen name comes from my grand kids! It's "toddler talk" for ..."look what NaNa's doing".... hence "NaNaDo" .... Ever watch Elmo's Place with your kids or grand kids???

We were skating session one evening, my daughter in law and my granddaughter came into the rink.... Our Granddaughter, 2 years old at the time (and who the Good Lord gave a good strong set of lungs to) jumped up on a bench, pointed and shouted at the top of her lungs "NaNaDo" as I skated past!!!!!! And that's my story!
