Just a quick question..
U.S. nationals were held in Aug .
Australia had theres in early Oct.
World meet is in early Dec. Why the long time line between events? :D
So you start regionals in what May or June ??? So the time line I'm guessing is 6-8 months from start to finish.. wow :(
How many Yrs in advance is the world meet location set?

regionals in roller were mostly done at the end of june to the beginning of july.
worlds is usually set 3 to 4 years ahead of time. the dates varly on worlds, it has run from sept to the latest this year end of nov to dec. depends on the country it is held in. the nationals are set by the country they are in.

Nationals in AUS were in October b/c of many of the problems with different term breaks/holidays with school. It was a dilemma for many and therefore the schedule was adjusted to suite most... However, Nationals will be held in JULY next year b/c of the timing of the world meet being much earlier, I think like in Sept/Oct..

The other thing to think about in Oz is that we only have 5 states, sending 1st three place getters in each event (except for international events) which means maximum skaters we would have in any event at nationals is only 15. In the USA don't you have sectionals, then regionals etc before getting to nationals? Someone help me out if I'm wrong. PS, Miki Ando just won Skate America, beating her best score by 20 points:eek: Kimmie Meisnner second and Mao Asada third (missed her triple axel, went down after that).

Were you refering to ice skating because I noticed you mentioned Ando, Asada and Skate America? Yes, American ice skating basically has Regionals, then Sectionals, then National competition.

must have been as those are ice skating names and not roller. they have more art skaters then roller so they need to thin the ranks a little more then we do.

Weather is pretty good this time of year in Queensland (AUS) The temperature would generally reach a maximum of 25-35C (75-95F) and have a minimum no less than 15C (60F) and the water temp on the beaches is fine for swimming. We are currently in the middle of a big drought so rainy days aren't too much of a problem.

One of the reasons I'm asking this is..
Reaching your peak performance at worlds.
Regionals is your warmup... work out any kinks in program change this and that... feeling good :)
Southern cali was held July long weekend.
Nationals you feel excited... U.S. nationals was Aug. 10th. ish
Ask the judges what they think and ask them what can be done to make program better.. ect..
Train for worlds and tweek program and add final touches.. feeling your peak.. feeling good now add excited like a race horse awaiting the race to start... go get em healthy attatude:)
Then worlds your feeling your best and skaitng your best... you feel your peak
Home with medal in tow... hopefully :) ;)
OHH and one more thing is there a traing seminar for skaters and coachs after world meet.. with guest trainer..? Since everyones here..

It seems like the team Australia will be at there peak when it comes time to skate at worlds.
Oct- to Dec is not a long time perod to wait.. and thats good..
team U.S.A. I dont know Aug to Dec .. feeling good and reaching your peak are two different things..
Just and thought..:)

Different structure here in England. You don't have regionals, your first proper competition (for couples that is) is the Inter-Silver Cup, which you have to compete in to be allowed to enter championships. Then you do Championships aka Nationals, then you have Europeans then Worlds... Not much time in between to improve either when you have Inter-Silver Cup in May, British Championships in June/July, Europeans July/August and Worlds generally November time. So its a bit different here lol.

your right everybody tries to peak at nationals, but many of our world team members are use to the time between our nationals and worlds. after nationals they might take a month off and then go back with a new goal and try to peak at worlds. we havent done so well the past few years at worlds but in the past we dominated with the same setup.

Silver Cup is just English. At Europeans theres generally about 10-15 i would guess? And the decision on who goes to worlds is made by your own federation. In England this year, all the skaters who went to Europeans had to go to a trial day and if they had seen satisfactory improvement they would be sent to Worlds. Unfortunately skating isn't as popular in England as in other countries it seems therefore meaning we dont have the oppurtunity to skillfully select who can represent their country as there was only 4 senior couples competing this year and no junior couples.

there is a training camp they attend for a few days before worlds and then they go home. after that they travel from their homes to a destination and most of them meet up and travel the long flight together. the junior and senior teams go at different times.

I wish we had a training camp lol. Out of the four senior couples that competed this year 3 belonged to my club, so I suppose each Group Session is a training camp hehe.

No I was asking about roller nationals in the USA. I teach Ice and Roller, and always use the ice as inspiration for the roller. I use a lot of the ice technique with freeskating on roller, some of the ice-dance technique with roller (much easier to do it on ice).

If we had one it would be... we have 3 big rinks that are nice floors in the UK. One that went bankrupt over the past two years and were not sure if its opening again, another which I love but everyone complains about and Rollerworld which is the best floor in our country, but it costs so much to rent out we cant afford to have big floors... So all comps are held in small leisure centres really... At Nationals theres generally quite alot of skaters, but they are split up into Junior & Senior together and one lot of all skaters under that age category have another championships... But yeah their quite busy. We have bout 15 in Senior bout 10 in Junior solo loads of freeskaters some free n not many couples, weve just got some inline free skaters in our country though so thats always cool to watch! hehe...

Bex thats good but your right seems like a small skate venue and you need more skaters. we have so many divisions here by age groups and then the junior, junior world class and worlds class levels. also many older divisions also, mostly dance and figures. keep up the good work and i will be looking for your name on the results from worlds.
