Last night while I was practicing, I realized why my freeleg was hitting the ground on landing. I am using it to CHECK, stop my rotation. My subconscience is realizing that I have too much mass to stop with a normal check. I am also doing my mapes with my toe off crossed behind my employed foot. Very bad takeoff. I'm twisting with my hips and shoulders before leaving the ground, but at least my wheels are maintaining the edge and not cheating (the only good thing). I realize now that I am way to heavy to do the proper technique. It is physics (energy needed to initiate rotation and stop rotation) vs my physical strength. Now I have to think a bit as to continuing to attempt to jump at my weight and possibly pick up bad habits or to wait till my weight drops. I'll render a decision later, after some thought.
