Default Looking for an Artistic Club in the Willmington NC area?

Hi,
Relocating to Shallotte, NC, SW of Wilmington. Would love to resume my dance and figure skating if there are any clubs in the area. Anyone with info would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, sktrlmt

Default clarify Eastland Mall rink

Apparently there are some tech problems, or other at that rink and it is currently closed. I just went to the link I posted and it is currently closed as of 1 SEP 06. that's a shame too because it was a nice olympic size rink. sorry for the mis-information. There is a number on the site you might call to see if this a temporary situation or not.

Hello sktrlmt and welcome to our forum! There is suppose to be a roller skating rink at 4414 Main Street in Shallotte. I don't know if they have an artistic club, but you and your daughter could use it for practice if the rink is still there. Per Bill in our Arizona rink discussion, there is a list of U.S. Artistic Roller Skating Clubs on the Web site of the U.S. Roller Sports Federation. And here are several roller skating rink directories with North Carolina listings:
- RinkTime.com
- SkateGroove.com
- Roller Skating Association International

Keep in touch, and let us know if you are able to start skating again. Good luck!

My favorite rink locator is
www.maps.google.com
It will locate skating rinks in a 50 mile radius, even if it's in another state. Plus you get a map.
You need to type in "city" and "state" first
then click on the find bussiness tab and type in "skating rink".

www.rinktime.com does a great job of listing rinks by state, but if you live near state line you'll have to search both lists, and perhaps sort thru a lot of rinks.

THe RSA and USARS lists show only member rinks and clubs. there can be a few rinks near by you that are not on their list, but still a place that you could practice at.

Once you locate rinks in your area, even if they are not RSA/USARS members, talk to the rink manager or owner about practice times. It may be a long shot but worth looking into. The rink near me (non-RSA/USARS) was trying to start a club and had unofficial practice times. I practiced there a few times last year in an almost empty rink

HTH,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the mention of RinkTime - And Kathie, thank you too...

I just wanted to let you know that RinkTime (www.rinktime.com) isn't necessarily limited by city/county/state boundaries. If you go to a specific rink, it will list all the rinks within a 25/50 mile radius regardless of state - it does a proximity search based on the center of the zip code of the specific rink. (Also, if we know a rink is a roller rink, we will only display the roller rinks nearby and the same goes for ice rinks) That way the user doesn't have to sift through finding the surface type they are looking for. We've also recently added google map function to the site which will show you a pincushion map of all the rinks with links to each rinks page on RinkTime.

Finally, you can enter your zip code, choose the radius and type of event you are looking for and see it there.

We are adding artistic skating and several other rink event types, as well as working on some other exciting stuff and have a staff calling rinks daily to make sure we are putting out the correct data.

Thanks again for the mention and I hope we are doing and can continue to be of service to the community.

My Best,
John Kirker

PS. If any of you have "ANY" suggestions on how we could do what we do better, please let us know. Our goal is to constantly improve and offer the best possible service. Canada is also coming soon...

PPS. If you are aware of any rinks that exist that are not listed on our site, please let us know about them so that we can add them....
