Default 10, no, 11 reasons you know Skating is everything.

Someone mentions a day of the week and you immediately think, hours and price at the rink.

Someone mentions wheels and you don’t even think about cars or tires.

You hear a song at a restaurant or grocery store and you perk up and think, I could (or do) skate to that!

You keep a change of clothes, extra socks and your skates in your car.

Switzerland? You know the Swiss are known for their bearings.

You have a certain respect for the skateboarders that know their equipment.

You have more money in skates than some folks have in their savings.

Thursday has always been old school night.

Some folks called it Disco, we call it Jam or groove.

You know the DJ’s names.

You say out loud all the punch lines from Roll Bounce.

12. you turn your kitchen pantry into a skate closet.
13. you consider wood floors for your house not because it's pretty, but because it's awesome to skate on.
14. your skate collection is worth more than your car
15. you plan where you are going to vacation by what rink/rinks you want to visit.
16. you get married at a skating rink on your skates. (yep, this really happened)

Default excellent posts

16.1 if not married at rink; the only reason to skip a session is to stay married. (Happy Wife, Happy Life (author unknown))

Ha Ha my wife just said 1-3. And I'm like "no, it's 2-4 today". And she's like inches of snow not open session.

I was going to skate today in between running the kids around, but my son has a sore foot.
Was supposed to go to a 21st but im not the partying kind and their music would torture me too much. So just told the missus that i wasn't going and all was fine. But my daughter said dad is going skating instead.Well needless to say im looking after the firewood and going to make a screen door for the house etc .
oh the pain the pain

After all the work I'd need to loosen the muscles with a good skate session.

This is my skate wall in my home office. I also keep one board and one pair of skates at work for "smoke" breaks. (Since I don't smoke my boss lets me disappear for at least 30 minutes every day).

The G|Bomb longboard at the bottom cost around $700. Powerslide Hardcore EVO skates around $500. The top board probably has about $300 invested in it. Yes, they are all locked to something big and heavy. Let the thieves take stuff I don't love if I ever have a break-in.

You don't even want to see my closet shelves full of skate and longboard spare parts, action cameras, etc. Ridiculous really.

Do you think your boss has any vacancy's for a short wrinkly old bald dude with a warped sense of humor and no qualifications?
And i forgot to mention non smoker and a enthusiastic skater.

17. You have your house build with steel beams so there are no support columns in the middle of your skating rink in your over-sized basement.

Skating is everything. This video is proof. Must have been a rainy day. Had to move a bit of furniture around to achieve this but it worked great!

Slalom in the house!

Love the video. I should do that in my house. Slalom isn't my focus but to gain balance.......

The postion of the right ottoman is interesting. Perhaps you need less furniture and more of an open concept house. Like just get rid of all the walls. And is that refridgerator reeeealy necessary? I think you get a lot more cones that way.

Thanks for the video more of us should share.

Wear a helmet! Anyplace you fall will be the corner of some piece of furniture. Wood floor is fairly forgiving. Inside my house is the only place I have ever hit my head in a fall. I did have the helmet on at the time.
