Hello, I just purchased a size 11 blue streak boot with a size 7 powerdyne pro plate. When I went to mount the plates there are nails on the heal ( which is way more narrow than my 595 boot) where I would like to make my drill holes. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Ken

![]() ![]() I typically use a very tiny bit and go in on 4 sides, tight up against the nail. Drill all the way through. This should let you take a drift and drive the nail out through the inside. Going the other way is very iffy as the nails are typically bent over and hook back into the sole. Once it's out, you are on your way. Note: I use Tee nuts and this give much latitude for drilling when dealing with nails.

When I have had this issue, I have been lucky enough where it was only one of my rear plate holes hitting a nail.
So as doc says, I marked all 4 holes, then drilled small holes around offending nail and removed it by all means necessary. Next I drilled and mounted the plates using the other 3 holes, (even 2 front holes would do if both heel bolts hit nails), I then covered the last hole of the plate with painters tape to prevent scratching. I then poked the drill bit through the painters tape , and used the plate as a drill guide to keep the drill bit from wandering and centered in the hole as I drill final hole slowly and carefully. This is necessary since drilling a hole in and amongst other holes freehand is nearly impossible

Just pull the nail out.Or drill beside it..I'm assuming its a heel nail it wont effect the heel at all.

Pulling a heel nail out of most American sk8 shoes is easier said than done. They are all bent over into a hook in the sole.
Look close @ what I posted above. 1) If the hole is supposed to be where the nail is, the nail must go. 2) Driving the heel nail out through the sole gets rid of the issue of trying to unhook the heel nail from the sole, plus once it is gone, the hole is pretty much where it is supposed to be.
