I was going fine till a mouse got in my computer and wrecked my video card. Have had to rebuild my computer.

Also have a Derby Bout project to get finished. Then I will get back to the speed skating videos.

So hopefully soon.....ish!

That's Luca Antoniel, and he managed to get a Bronze medal in 1992 when inline skates had come into play.
Still, a Bronze medal against inline skaters over 300m is pretty impressive.

It almost looks like his plates are mounted backwards on his boots, I clicked play/pause so fast it sounded like I was playing with one of the clickers you use to get in CrackerJacks so I could get a good side view of his skates.

It looks to me like the rear axle/ rear wheels centerline lines up with the front of his heel where your arch begins and the front axle/wheel centerline is forward of where the ball of his foot would be located.

I guess that kind of arrangement gives you some kind of advantage ?

His starts are like what I see inline skaters do, when I use to race speed skaters 30 plus years ago, everyone started by running on their toe stops and front wheels which I think would of helped him get going much quicker in the first three to four strides IMO but then again I am no speed skater.

I guess then that you have never seen a forward mount with NTS plates before ?

This style is called a "forward mount".

On this forum it is often called an "Aussie Forward Mount".

As a reference to many folk down under passionately extolling the performance virtues of such mounting techniques.

You guess correctly.

Typical mount style for anyone serious about racing or going fast on Quads.

Here we go again on "S" vs "NTS" starts.

http://skatelogforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23597 ( as referenced already in this thread )

Now ... back on track...

Please "cojaco61" ... upload more of those classic videos !!! ( NTS, Stopless Starts, Serious Speed Events ) ... The "World" needs to see them ...
