Other then that, nice video. Looks like a nice road.
We used to have one here with a bike race until it rained one year and a few crashed. Seems the bikers couldn't stand seeing the blood. Never ask us back.
Or maybe the times where to close to the bikes times.
Ya, I didn't realize how much I move my head when I skate outdoors. My head moves less when I am doing 9 seconds laps indoors!! lol

If I don't get my butt outside and start training, we can be drafting buddies

Kufman, sounds good. I think you and your wife already met my parents at the 10k. They are going to be at the Chicagoland too.

Was your mom taking pictures? If so, we chatted with her after the race and we are interested in seeing some of those pics

She hasn't sent them yet? I will bug her. The ones my step-dad took may be on the Team Rainbo page soon.

According to the American Bicycle Racing calendar, the race is on again for this year on June 30, but there is no link to a website to find out if their Inline Skate Odessey will again be included in the program.

Anybody in here have any insider info on what's going on with the race this year?

OK so after I posted that, they put a link up to a website that says "flyer coming soon". I guess we'll know then.

Yep, it's on again this year! Flyer here.

I think everyone agrees that it sure would be nice if we had a few local races around here, so please spread the word within whatever your sphere of influence may be to help insure that we have plenty of participation to keep it all going.

Default Date Change

Grape vine is saying this event has moved to August 10. Should be an updated flyer soon.

Thanks for the heads up. Yep, checked the flyer and it's updated to August 10. I guess that means I'll be doing 3 races in a 21 day period. WOW!

According to the flyer, the inline race will be a 15k this year (15*1k laps) if the course is the same as last year.

That flyer isn't even telling us if the race is in the same place as last year. It's only telling us where to exit off of 290 and that's it, no more. I guess we'll have to wait for more updates, but there's plenty of time for that now.

One week out. Who's going? I'm hoping there will be a small contingent of us from Team Illini, although I might be wearing a different uniform if I don't get around to busting out the needle and thread to make repairs in time.

I don't expect much from myself - I haven't skated at all since IDN or outdoor since about 2004. It's hard to set goals in that situation. If I do have teammates show up, I might just sit behind them and explain how outdoor skating works, since many of them have never skated outdoors at all.

I don't know where it was last year. The HTML Flyer is different than the PDF one linked earlier in the thread. It says Wood Dale Rd. & Mittel Dr., Wood Dale, IL.

Yep, same place as last year according to this page on the ABR site. It also gives the full directions where the flyer stopped short. It's also the page I was telling you about that said it's a 1 mile course, but I think it's either a mistake or it doesn't apply to skaters. The flyer says 15 laps and its probably around the same 1K course as last year.

If anyone has questions you can call the number on the flyer.

I plan on being there as long as my heart doesn't start acting ignorant again, but I've been fine for over a month now and am training. I'm just going to be slow, but that's OK, I'm still going to enjoy the experience.
