Default 2007 Inline World Championships - Reports and Photos

For those of you who didn't follow the previous thread on the subject - Israel will be participating in the worlds this year for the first time this year in Cali.

Our delegation will be a small one, and it will consist of... well... me

I'll be participating in the 20km Elimination Race, the 10km Points Race and of course - the marathon.

It's hard to guess what to expect at the event, as I have never competed internationally before. I've prepared for the event to the best of my ability, and intend to give it my best shot.

Regardless of the outcome - I'm sure this is going to be the most amazing skating event I have ever participated in, and hope that my participation will give speedskating in Israel a boost - driving other skaters (speed or even rec) to set higher goals for themselves, and better whatever I achieve in 2008.

While I'm at the worlds, I will convert my personal site (www.boazarad.com) to somewhat of a racing blog - you're all invited to drop by and read about the event through my eyes. I'll drop a note here when my first worlds post is up.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank all the great guys (and gals) from the forum here - it's a pleasure talking to you all, and I've learned quiet a bit from the lot of you!

Default Kiwis

Hola Lili!
If you're already at work, can you please tell us if the New Zealand team is now allowed to train in the new track? O perhaps are there still works going on in the track that prevented only KIWI SKATERS to get inside, while it seems that doesn't affect you local skaters? Or maybe was it the "yellow fever" excuse that's gotten Kalon & Co out of the field?
Muchas gracias por tus comentarios al respecto.

That's great, Alex! The live feed from the US Indoor Nationals was fantastic and really well received.
I assume Bont is helping sponsor it (BontTV.com) so thanks.

Diego Rosero will not compete in Cali 2007.

In a huge blow to the Colombian team, Diego Rosero has just announced at a press conference that he is pulling out of the championships due to a virus just seven days before the games are due to begin.

That is Wonderful! Thank You so much for the info and the coverage

There are 6 members of the US team that skate for a local team and I really want to keep up with them at worlds.

Thanks again!

2 sleeps left before the start of the 2007 Inline World Championships. Today was a hot and rainless day for a change. The skaters practiced all morning with the afternoon set aside for the opening ceremony practice. The track is completed, but there is still a lot of work going on around the track to finish the stadium, lay pavers and grass, and erect flag poles. You will never get a track that everyone likes but this one seems pretty close. It is grippy and fast and Iím sure there will be some really fast times set here. Skaters are going so fast their boots are rubbing on the track itself. The only down side to this is that it is hard on the legs and lactic will set in faster than normal. Some skaters are opting not to do too many sprints so they can save their legs for the championships.

The Cali locals have been welcoming the skaters from every nation with open arms. There is a huge skating vibe in the city. All the newspapers and TV channels are covering the championships and there are huge images of the Colombia team around the city. The opening ceremony is tomorrow night and if the rehearsals are anything to go by it should be a cracker.
