I'm now looking at buying the bont leather speed boots(not carbon), has anyone tryed these yet? They look really good and the leather looks softer.
Not yet, but I and some others here odered it already and we are eager to recieve it ....

BTW at the moment I have got 395 installed and with the laces you are right, cheap stuff.
But the rest of that boot in my opinion has a quite good quality. And, if finaly broke in, it is comfortable.

Hey Jimmy, is that about the height of a Riedell 295?

Jimmy if you cut it down more than you show in the pic, you will need to put some kind of heel strap on the boot to keep it on your foot during starts.
Thats what works on the old Oberhamers and the Reidell 295's. Those boots had a ankle cuff that was high enough that the foot stayed snug in the boot during starts. The soft leather enables the foot flex during starts and crossovers and the higher ankle kept the boot on snug. I can tell by the pics that the leather is soft. The counters are right on. Youve got that right. Craig said it was a little on the soft side. Give it more ankle and the soft leather will not be a factor. Make one and let me test it. Two more eyelets.

Question low

jimmys boot is about the height of a 595 or 395 i think it's the right height now jimmy. and wouldn't lower it at all. craig skated on the one with a plate. the left one and it preformed fairly well for a proto type! keep it up jimmy!

Just make sure that the ankle strap goes to the back of the heel on both sides. Add the eyelets and dont make it any lower than it is. A lower boot might be ok for jam skating but a real race boot needs more support. Keep working at it. You might want to take the laces a little closer to the toe. Maybe one more pair of holes. OH yea and put just a little wedge in the heel.
Double the sole thickness in the heel.

this may sound stupid but (looks wise) I like stitching going down the side of the boot like O 351's and older riedell 295 and 695. (I don't want you to forget coolness)
