FROM SKATELOG FORUM HOST KATHIE FRY IN MARCH OF 2020:
This announcement is to let everyone know that after hosting the SkateLog Forum and its predecessors for nearly 20 years, I have decided it is time to permanently turn the forum over to a new owner and administrator. I cannot think of anyone more suitable to take on that role than my SkateLog forum co-host, Florida skater Jessica Wright. I am pleased to announce that Jessica has agreed to establish and host a brand new skating forum, configured like the SkateLog Forum, but with a new name and a new Web Site. This new forum is 100% owned and operated by Jessica.

NEW FORUM NAME: SkateDebate Forum
NEW WEB SITE: SkateDebate.com
NEW OWNER AND ADMINISTRATOR: Jessica Wright

Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Please start a new thread for each new question.

Default Screws on plate....

Hey Dr Sk8,

I was just wondering, I had a plate from one boot placed onto a new boot and the original boot and plate were held on with 6 Screws, when I got my new boot and old plate returned it was only fastened with 4 (2 each side of plate) screws instead of 6, (3 each side of plate).

Thanks for your time.

Should of they have just done the same amount of screws or is the less amount of screws going to be Ok?

Exclamation

A few more details would help. Some plates are only held on with 4 screws. I have seen many more in some plates I have 8 in a Skater brand Polar figure plate. 6 in front and 2 in back. Overkill to be honest. So let me know what plates we are talking about here so I can be a bit more helpful.

Sorry! Yep can help....

Pilot plate.......

There's room for 3 screws down each side of plate, as in 3 screw holes.

I would suggest using all 6, if you are doing derby. I used 4 on mine because I don't stress the toe stops.
