Default Skater's Dream

OK, I didn't know where else to post this, but it isn't exactly humorous. If it touches you where it matters, so be it. This poem came to me during a moment of inspiration way back in the past.

A Skater's Dream

Floor, dirt, wheels, bearings, axles, trucks,
plates, boots, laces, socks, flesh, blood, sweat,
tears, guts, heart, head, music, space, solitude:

Build.... a.... Skater's.... Dream....
Build. To create or produce gradually as a result
of effort. To work hard, get discouraged....be
determined....oops, thud, groan, cry, ache, get up,
work harder.

Skater. One so possessed by love of the sport
that contact with the floor is like walking in space.

Dream. 1. A state of mind of one who is
abstracted or lost in imaginary visions, reverie,
daydreams....

....when the urge hits the mind, the skates hit
the floor, the walls disappear, and all that lies
ahead is an endless expanse of hard rock maple
making its way through all the beautiful places in
my mind.... the skates and the floor disappear....

Great poem and thanks for sharing it sk84luv. It does capture the skaters heart. Although I'm and outdoor inliner and don't have to escape the walls and floor, I get euphoric feelings of transcending my surroundings as well.

I also love your tag line. It makes my day when I see familys together on the trails. I usually try to say an encouraging word to them, especially when I see 3 generations as a group. It's all good, so...
