![]() There was a team of quad skaters year before last. They do allow them for sure. If you're interested see if you can join up others (both inline & quad skaters) and register as a mixed team!! Or see if the Skatelog team would like to register as mixed. C |

Rumour has it that the 24 hour will be held on the weekend of Sep 6 & 7, 2008. I am just trying to get confirmation of that now.

If that's the case, I will not be able to participate this year.

There's another thread saying that the 24 Hour race will be the weekend of September 6 - Labor Day weekend. If that holds true, I will not be available for the Montreal race.

Everything says "inline" but the rules do not include that as a requirement in the "equipment" section. How quickly would I die trying to do this, do you think?

I thought U.S. Labour Day was 1st Monday in September like in Canada. Labour Day is not an issue for me. But, if it is Sep 6 & 7, we usually take the Friday before and Monday after. And we are doing Duluth the following weekend for sure. We can't possibly attend 2 events so close together. I suspect Duluth will win out. As long as we skate, we will always go to Duluth.

My calendar has (US) labor day monday as the 1st of September, so if it's right, you can still do both.. . Still makes for a pretty intense fall: Montreal 24 +2 weeks NYC 100K +3 Weeks A2A +~1 week Defi... About 250 to 375 miles in competition in about a month.... Call it the Quadruple Crown of Pain.

![]() What about "how fast do you normally skate on quads" and for how long can you sustain that speed" With those answers in mind, go to the 24hr site from last year and look up lap speeds. Each lap is just short of 3 miles, and when you have done one lap you rest for 9 laps (or so depending on team strategy) and then you go again. If you can go the lap speeds those teams go - then fine, I think it would be cool to have a team member on quads!!

I need to find myself a comparable circuit and start training specific for this length...see how fast I can rip one off and how far I need to come.

Hi guys Im James. I live in Tempe AZ. and trying to get back in shape and back on speed skates. Its been about 14 years since I have been on them. Tried to skate on them last month and they self destructed. Have been playing inline hockey to get in shape. I have been reading the speed forum for awile and the 24hour in canada sounds like a blast. Will be shoping for new speed skates now.

If the dates are moved to September, then this may be a distinct possibility for Kevin and I, which is great since we've always wanted to do it, but the July dates always conflicted with the start of Indoor Nationals. But the dates in September, if it's changed to those dates, the weekend after Labor Day weekend, are definitely possible... It's also an easy trip for us, about a 6 hour drive. It'd be alot of fun! Put us down as "maybe" if the dates are moved to September.

It would be good for me if the date was pushed back. More time to train in good weather, more time to improve overall fitness this winter, more time to get used to the custom boots I'll be getting in a few months.

Don't know about ch'yall, but somehow this later date makes it more likely for speedy. There's a good chance I'd go solo, but not to win or place. This chick I know said she'd do it with me.

Just a little info regarding the usual Montreal weather for September (picked this little tidbit up on another forum):
"According to the Weather Office, Montreal average temperature for September is high of 19 (approx 68F) and low of 7 (approx 44F), Environment Canada is predicting this is going to be a looong cold winter." If the September date is correct the night will be a little cool sleeping outdoors -- also, don't forget the sun goes down a lot earlier in September and rises later. More night skating will be involved. C |
