Default New Forum Search Tool

Hi Kathie, All,

I just finished searching for an old post and I need to find out a little more how your search engine works since it seems off.

If I selected Derby and then used: Please help me with crossovers

^The engine says I haven't used four words and asks me to make it longer

So I went down rather than up to: help crossovers
to get the Engine to work and then I don't remember finding the thread.

I have had this problem before and have done a work around to find the tread/thread or post.

When I use "Please help me with crossovers" I find the thread/tread.

So anyway.

In simple searches, how does the Engine work?
and why does it tell you to use four words when two work?

Dave, the vBulletin search tool is just not that good, so I finally did something I've been meaning to do for quite a while. You can now use the Google search tool to find discussions in the SkateLog Forum by selecting the red Search link that is now located at the top of every page in the forum. The Google search tool works *much* better then the search tool that is built into vBulletin and other forum software.

"The search term you specified (me) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer."

The word is too short. When you got rid of the short word, it worked.

Default Outstanding Kathie

Hi Kathie,

Thanks!!

The Google search tool adds greater flexibility. It reminds me of some of the library search tools in current usage. I am guessing that it may also provide some hits/suggestions when small spelling errors exist.

Over time I will play with both of them starting always with the new tool.

Thanks Bill, I was surprised that you received only one result so I will have to check out why you didn't get a listing.

Oh, sorry, I got several. I was just guessing at the one you were looking for.
