Damn, and I was planning on coming this year

On a different note, does anyone remember or know anything about that skating triathlon that happened in NY last year? Any idea if it's coming back?

Me to - re. the skating in NY100K

FRan - is there any way that you will change your mind and put the race on again?

If it is help or something in that area that is needed (I'm sitting on my hands here, pleanty of work putting Squiggy on - so I totally understand how much work there is in getting a race going) - but if you need help, maybe the board here will donate time to help you in someway or other?!

The thing is that we all want to race as much as possible, but most of us also know how much work it takes to put on a race, and therefore is somewhat reluctant to say "sure - let me be the race director".

Maybe if somebody said "yes I'll be the race director - but I need help from other people as well".

I did that and I'm getting all the help I'm asking for.

Just an idea - and if there's somebody out there lurking on the sidelines that wanted to do that race and know sits " f#&#& why is it not going to be this year, when I had planned on doing it" - then step up and say "ok I'll put the race on"!!

And nobody get the idea that you can get Jessica - she's mine until after Squiggy She's actually a perfect example of what I'm talking about above and so is Jim White - both more than ready to help getting our race the best possible.

Yes, below is all I managed to find online, but one of the skaters around here had mentioned it and I think they're doing it again this year. It's usually around April / May, IIRC. I'll give him a call tonight and see if I can get more details. I'll post 'em here for you.

OK, things in life often happen for a reason, Yesterday I thought that if the event was going to happen it was going to have to be without me, and I was pretty sure it was going to stay that way, today is a totally new day and I will do it again. so plan on it, but for September 27th, the 20th was not possible to have!

Phewww you almost got us there - good marketing stunt though (j/k!!!)

Looking forward to it - this year I'm planning on using it as my "last long skate" before A2A, so please don't change the date on me

Hey Birgit, you know last season I thought that it was going to be horrible to skate the nyc 100K the week before A2A, and my time in A2A was a lot faster than 2 years ago (I didn't get lost for 3 miles) but still my time was a lot better, and I felt so much better, I didn't skate the whole week between 100K and A2A, but come race day I felt comfortable and relaxed, I skated my best ultra marathon distance ever, and it seemed really easy, I think that the best practice for A2A is the 100K the week before. I know it will hurt my numbers as some people think that its too hard, but honestly if people are really training for A2A then this really is the best practice (with most of the people doing A2A) just a week before.

This year I skated 59 miles 1 week before A2A, and I felt fine skating A2A. 100K is 62.5miles, so yes I happen to agree with you that the distance is good practice for A2A (not that I have much experience to say that, but well I just did)

I'll let you know after A2A if I should not have done it

I'll echo Fran, here. In 2000, the NYC 100k was one week prior to A2A. I felt pretty tired until the Thursday before A2A and like Fran didn't do any skating in between. Although I didn't have my best finish time at A2A that year, I still managed under 5 hours and felt really strong on that last tough 8 mile or so stretch along the Interstate.

Both races are superb.

For Gods sake's from Ohio? you are like practically our neighbor, anyway, i'm sure it's not that expensive, and yes start saving, its a shame that Mr ultra distance himself: Mr. Speedy does not do the NYC 100k, you'll love A2A after the 100K I can tell you that, you'll hate me, but love A2A

Now the rest of the skate loggers can start making plans for the NY100K this year! Speedy is coming! why wouldn't you?

I know the world doesn't revolve around me but,
make it on a Sunday and I'm there. In any event, my skating group will be there like last time.

Sheldon, if you knew that I thought of that because of you... that wold be the closest race to you, and would make it easier for you... unfortunately the party is a big part of the race and nothing like partying on a Saturday night and sleeping late sunday! sorry my friend!
Maybe you could stay in a hotel close by and skate Saturday morning to the event site, My friend David said that as long as it wasn't electricity he could do it, but thought skates were a grey area.... don't know.
