I know Nationals is over, but for anyone wanting to know what to skate if you weigh around 115-120... lol

I skated on purple reigns. I admit, I slid once or twice last year, and I was worried this year, but last year I had only skated them for a few weeks before nationals. I FLY when I'm on them, they are nice and hard, grip well. The Acid reigns grip a ton better, but definitely slower roll. But this year, my wheels had been broken in for a good couple of months and so I was able to skate them with little to no problems at Nationals. I slid once, but I attribute that to skating my ass of to try to keep someone from passing me and taking the corner at the wrong angle.

Seriously, on National's floor, the majority of hard wheels will stick if you have your weight distributed right, but in the heat of the moment it's easy to lose track of your form.

The back-up wheels that I brought were Atom strokers and the acid reigns. I was going to alternate wheels, but decided against it after warm ups because I just didn't need to. It may have helped that I took some super fine grit sandpaper lightly to my wheels right before nationals too. I had stored them over the winter and wanted to make sure they were clean and didn't have any smooth spots left from the year before.

Great information. Thanks! Glad you did well, too!

What other set-ups(wheel-wise) did you notice on any of the other skaters??

Scott's?
Faster's?
Interceptor's?
Stroker's?

Tim, great that you went!

I figured that there'd be a few Stroker set ups... nice to see that there was a set of original Interceptors there. Thought there would have been more Fasters... I was pretty sure Anabolix would probably rule the event in terms of the number of skaters using them (thought that Acid's would take the cake because of the grip factor but I guess just a bit too slow of a roll for the floor there??... and definitely glad to see Scott's there.

Thx

Hey 1888bc - it was nice to meet you at Nationals!! Hope that you'll be back next year! And thanks for the offer to try your wheels! Next year, if you are interested in doing a relay, let us know. We'll see if we can't get you a relay or two with people from out this way.

Kevin

Default sign me up...

Hey Kevin,

A relay with SOS would be perfect.
I will contact you soon and we will talk.

As for the wheels, it was my pleasure.
I'm in the process of ordering some of Scott's VFH tires (101a) for 2013 Nats.

The "official" Nationals photographers, Callam Sports, has pictures on their website www.callamsportsphoto.com. Click on "order photos" then pick the event and day (Quads were last Saturday 7/21). You can browse through the photos.
