Default What are these plates?

These were on the bay but don`t know what they are. Are they by chance XL`s?

Cool maybe

i can't see them good enough to tell for sure but maybe! if they are they should have an xl on the front mounting pads somewhere it may be very hard to see though.

I can very faintly make out something or I may be WANTING to make out something on the pads lol. I`m leaning more toward the XL theory. Thanks.

Default pinch screw or no pinch screw

Is there a pinch screw for the toe stop? if yes it's an SL, if no pinch screw it's a XL

They are XL`s!! I`ll get some pics up in a day or so but I think I did pretty decent for $60. Got my son some cheap wheels and stops lol and me a plate for my 125`s.

And now, whats the deal with the SG Skins? I just won a size 8 in those for $9.99 to the door lol. Don`t know what I`m gonna do with those. Maybe build my son another set of skates as his foot is growing like weeds on miraclegrow lol

I can guarantee I didn`t snipe `em lol. I was bidding on the size 8 completes and size 6 plate only and the size 6 got sniped from me and no one even bid on the size 8`s but me lol

Default Here they are

Here`s the pics. They seem to have something going on near the rear on one side. Looks like they may have had work done on them but they don`t show any signs of cracks or out of square or anything.

Here`s the area in question

The other side looks great. Can`t tell there`s anything going on here

Nice score.

The Skins are a nice lightweight plastic plate. I skated one for years and just traded it away. You can do a DA45 conversion on them as well. They skate nice and are very lightweight.

I ended up getting sniped on a couple of them myself. I did buy a bare plate and one with trucks. Now to find a set of Soccer cleats that fit my wife and I'll have a cheap setup for her to try.

Default xl's

These are xl's but they did not come with holes in them, someone sure messed these up, they look like they have been worked on a lot. Xl's are not strong enough to be drilled like this. They are sand casted out of aluminum. And these holes have weaken them. I know this because i tested them in california in the 70's and designed skating products. plus I have made a few XL's myself. Its too bad. They were nice. Never modify skates like this. Its a very bad idea.

Default Make your own plates

did you know that to make your own plates out of aluminum or magnesium is very simple & cheep ?

there are a million sites on the net that show you how to cast with metal... & it is easy to do .

You should do a search for Wild42 and check out the local plate maker here!

The downsides with Skins that I've read about are that they're flexy and that the pivot pin has a tendency to pop out if you've got 'em set up as DA45s.
