Default Derby Lite

Skating for Fun & Fitness? Yes Please!

In January, I learned of a derby style fitness skating class for women 18+ who want to skate, have fun, but not be rough, or take hits like derby regular. I hadn't skated in 20 years, and it was just what I needed.

One class and I was hooked...

Now, I work for the company in administration, and am becoming an instructor. Classes are starting all over the US, and it is so popular, because we teach people how to skate, and end up burning up to 700 calories an hour.

If you want to check it out, go to www.derbylite.org

You can also follow us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/DerbyLite

I'm so in love with skating, and it was missing from my life for far too long. I am a mother and a wife, and Derby Lite gave me an outlet to meet new women like myself, get out of the house, and workout while having a blast.

Check it out, and let me know what you think!
Sincerely,
Scrapunzel

Exactly what's needed, just need to drop the name "derby"
Still might be the odd injury but leaving the aggression out of it is a great start.

Wow! What a great concept! I wish there was something like this down in my neck of the woods. I wish that I had enough spare time to be a part of bringing it down here. I saved the site as one of my favorites and will check back from time to time to see if it ever makes it down to Florida. There are a couple of older ex-derby girls that I know would totally dig this. Thanks for posting it. You may want to post it in the derby forum too, some of us older derby girls still check out that forum too. Just wow, made my day

I agree that dropping the name derby would be good. It sounds like you are learning how to play derby and not use derby skills. I think it might also encourage more men to paricipate.

Hell yeah! If there was a "fitness skating" program here in my town, I'd sign up for several very valid reasons:
1. I love fitness skating
2. There are no women where I "fitness skate" and I'm single.
3. I hate gym based "aerobics" classes.
4. I could show off my skating skillz for reason #2 above

Hell, I might even teach the damn thing!

Keep the name I say. They do this program at the rink we skate at and it seems to be quite popular and it is all ladies who do it. I doubt many men would have an interest in it(at least the ones I know).

It's because most men have no interest in skating.

Some of us men have alterior motives. Muhahahah...
