Default Roller Skis-skate

Has anyone tried roller skis?
I am seriously considering getting a pair. I have the boots, polls and bindings from my XC days. So, just need to find a cheap pair to start.
My main reason is that I don't have good places to do my inline and the only trails I can use need resurfacing. The way they are now they hammer my toes.

The roller skis use a softer wheel and the length will absorb the bumps better.
