Need help building new skates

I'm about to build a new pair of skates and was wondering if anyone that had both the Riedell Solaris and the Bont Quad Racer boots could give me a good comparison. Which is lighter and more comfortable out of the two? Also, anyone, that skated on both the Labeda Proline plates and the Snyder Advantage plates I would love to hear your opinion on them as well. Which of those two plates is lighter and better for speed but still corner as well? Or is there a better lightweight plate option? I just got back into skating recently I am 200lb and like to speed skate and do a little shuffle skating as well. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.Have a blessed day!!

The synder I say is better.
The proline is lighter but it's not as well built not anymore.

Speed skating buy a boen or rogue

DO you mean the Boen Speed Pro? It's the only one I see but it says they are out of stock. Thanks for your reply.

I'm doing the same as you minus the speed skating and keeping my complete build all American made. I was pondering the Pro Lines and ended up going with the Advantages after talking to The Sk8 Doctor. I ultimately went that route for the offset toe stop and the adjustable pivot pins. I have Doc setting me up with some urthaine crushions since the rubber stock ones I guess don't hold up well. Snyder doesn't make direct fit replacement urethians. I have all my parts in hand minus my boots that were a made to order from Riedell.

I don't suppose there is any way you can try on the boot before you buy? Many people absolutely love the Bont, but when I tried it on in a shop it turned out to be too big around my ankle. Yes, it can be heat molded, but it was easier to get a Mota in my case since that actually fit. It's all about how their "last" (the fake foot they use to shape the boot) fits your foot.

I have never heard of a Mota, but I was looking to go and get sized for the Bont on Monday. But, I don't think I will be trying on a boot, just getting sized. Do you have any experience with a Snyder Advantage or a Proline for speed and a little shuffle skating?

I've used a Proline for 15-20 years for speed, and it's still sitting on my Reidell. I've done a little bit of shuffle and some derby. It's held up and done everything I asked of it, but it's also OG instead of from the new line. I can't personally speak to the difference, but lots of other people have.

It's worth asking at the shop if they have Mota. I haven't used mine extensively yet, but plenty of my former derby teammates switched over to them in the last couple of years with no complaints.

I love the phrase "I quit". It beats more of my opponents than I do.
