Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Please start a new thread for each new question. |

Hi.
I'm new to the rollerskating world having moved over from ice skating. I manage a small roller rink and as we are in the run up to christmas I need to sort out our shop. What should I be looking for in a good quad skate and what should I be avoiding? Good for a beginner Good for someone more advanced |

Same as above, just more pricey. Ya see there is no simple answer... So fill in the blanks and I'll do my best to help ya. Just remember, you can get sk8s all over the internet. The price structure is gonna be tight.

Hi, sorry for my lack of response, it's been a busy time for me.
My ice skating background is recreational and ice hockey from a skating point of view, but everything from managing a rink. The rink I'm in is very small so hockey, speed skating etc is not possible, so its very much a casual recreational skater environment. Check us out at www.rollacity.co.uk Adult skates are my biggest issue at the moment as the street and raptor series we sell are being discontinued by the supplier with no obvious replacement available. These are a hard plastic shell boot. All other boots I seem to be able to get in the uk are soft trainer style. Rio roller mayhem seem to be the only option, or figure skating style boots. A lot of skates I do see customers using are old boots you can't get anymore or ice skate conversions which isn't really an option for us.so trying to spot what's popular isn't east. |
