I would have easily topped 500 miles except for a crazy rained out Friday Night Skate. I drove 45 miles into The City only to have it start raining as I neared the city limits, 5 hours earlier than forecast.
For May:

Three hikes totally 22.27 miles
36 skates totally 459.51 miles
No cycling

Max Distance: 39.06 mi
Max Avg Speed: 14.9 mph

I would have easily beat 500 miles but I had to go out of town four days including the weekend on family business.

I will lose a weekend this month too on account of a wedding (not mine).

49 hours! Heck yeah. Lot's of work involved with that!

Take your skates to the wedding. Problem solved.

C'mon ese! You can do it!

Mine's been over since lunch time. I forgot it was the last day of the month or I would have gone for a night sesh.

Oh well.

2nd best monthly SKATE total of all time. I'll take it.
46 hours of ramp and bowl skating.

Good run!

I've been playing with a third party synchronization tool this last week. www.tapiriik.com syncs between Garmin Connect and about a dozen other services. With this I've been comparing the analysis features of various sites.

Unfortunately, I have not come up with a better service than Garmin Connect. This is disappointing as Garmin Connect is very buggy. What I found is that three sites will not sync up because they don't understand activity types other than running and cycling. The rest are a mix of extremely week statistics features, useful statistics only available if you pay them and no trial to see if they work, along with one or two so buggy I can't determine the state of their statistics features.

So I'm left with Garmin Connect. It mostly has the features. They don't entirely work but some workaround are possible.

For July:

Count: 45 Activities
2 hikes
43 skates
Distance: 546.95 mi
22.7 miles hiking
524.25 miles skating
Time: 52:15:02 h:m:s
44:04:46 Skating
Elevation Gain: 18,079 ft
Avg Speed: 10.5 mph
Skating Average: 11.9 mph
Avg HR: 116 bpm
Calories: 30,488 C
Max Distance: 54.22 mi
Max Avg Speed: 16.9 mph (Napa Valley Inline Marathon)

This is the first time since July of last year that I've broken 500 miles for skating. It is only the second time this year, that I've crossed over 500 miles for all activities.

August should be similar. Maybe less hiking. Rolling on the River (Grand Forks) will replace Napa. Ideally no shingles which kind of derailed things last year.

Max Avg Speed: 2.5 mph

Total totals
==================
Count: 42 Activities

August last year should have been about the same but wasn't. I had to back off to near zero in order to take care of a shingles outbreak. This year I was able to squeeze in three 100K skates. Two were on consecutive Sundays, which is kind of a mistake. I should have done an easy Sunday this week and then the long one next week but I seem to be calendar challenged. I thought I had only two weeks until Duluth rather than three.

This is a big as it gets this year. September will have at most two ultra long skates and more likely just one. (Doing 100K skates on three consecutive Sundays seems like a bad idea) I can fit one more long skate in October then it is Athens to Atlanta and the off season.

Default Miles of the Month

55 miles on Inline skates and the balance on various longboards. Just got new skates so I should be upping the Inline miles next month.

I can easily do 50 miles in half a day on either my longboard or inline skates. Just finding the time is usually the problem.

And keep in mind I am not using speed skates. I am skating miles on my Hardcore EVOs.

Damn......

Joey, keep posting man. This thing feeds on itself!

-------------------------------------------------------------------
After a dismal, injury filled month of July, August shaped quite nicely. Even better when many milestones were factored in. Bowl grinding at Hoffman and new lodge routines. It was a damn good month in all. #guitartoo

--------------

Hell, I learned to do this:
https://youtu.be/RYwtt3hHMuc

I used to just skate on the inside of the bowl, and fly out etc... This past month I learned to grind on the edge, off my wheels. So sketchy! And fun.

I'll do my best.

Took an extra long "smoke break" from work today - about an hour. (I don't smoke and tend to show up early and work non-stop all day so on dry days the boss is happy to let me take a skate break every day - usually 20 - 30 minutes and 3 to 5 miles of playing in traffic).

Anyway, you can see why I am having a slow week by the temp my GPS recorded today.

I only ran the GPS for one mile today to map a new park near my workplace. I was out for nearly an hour and stopped to take photos here and there. It did feel kinda hot to me.

If you look at my August bar graph (up thread) you can tell when the temps drop and I can get out for a few mornings in a row.

Fall and Winter are stellar down here in NOLA. My frequency of getting out will jump as soon as the summer heat breaks. Likely so will my post numbers.

Is that an iPhone thing? The strava android app (at least for my phone) doesn't record weather.

32H:32m In August. Didn't reach my goal of a 150k ride or a 17mph 10k. Did bust out a 16.5 mph (PR) 10K yesterday.

I am using a Lezyne Mini GPS, not a phone.

Nice skating totals for August BTW...
