Default Hello my name is....and I'm an addict :(

...David and I've been a skating addict since 92/93 before it was cool, during the hype and after it was cool. Been doing every drug out there: fitness, aggressive, speed skating and recently started slalom. Obviously fitness skating was the gateway drug. In my youth I spend all my money on skates, then went downhill from there (pun intended)...

I've joined this AS group (Anonymous Skaters) to finally deal with my problem...I like skating so much I just can't seem to give it up

I hope to get help from you guys!

You skipped over the part about why being a "skating addict" has becomea problem for you?

Spending too much money or time on skating related activities?
Neglecting other things in your life that really do have a higher priority?

Without giving us a little more info on exactly "why" you are seeing your skating addiction as being a problem, then just talking about the "what" of the problem isn't really enough to get the best advice from us other addicts here at SLF - as if we are even the the right people to be asking in the 1st place.

Just tell yourself your just a social skater. The first step in avoiding a problem is denying it's existence. I find I fell much better if I handle things this way.

Denying that I have a skating problem is something I can live with. That way I can continue my addiction See the investment of signing up here has already paid off!

Just wait until your rink closes and the nearest one is 200 miles round trip. It does cause you to partially heal, but you will still be thinking about skating.

I've sort of considered gearing up to do bowl skating on quads. The problem is the skate parks also allow idiots on bikes. I just turned 72, so I need to keep the odds in my favor. All I really need is a smooth outdoor surface the size of 1/2 a tennis court, some rock and roll and a couple of babes.

Thanks for the props. I truly miss skating 3-4 days a week, but I am getting more things done on the farm. I have to say, skating is one of the activities contributing to my good health and youthful appearance.
