Re-printed from the God Father Himself...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Skaters!!! I have been producing the Napa Valley Inline Marathon and Half Marathon for over 23 years. The name of the event, the race venue, even the frequency of the races have changed over the years and now they have come to an end. The Napa Valley Inline Marathon was the last 26.2 mile inline marathon in the west and it exists no more. Due to recent changes in the permit process, the cost to put on the event has exceeded $25,000.00 in fees to do it right. As much as I hate to do it, I have to suspend the event indefinitely. Yes, it?s a sad thing. However I feel that when one door closes, another one opens!!! The fact we don't have the Napa race anymore does not mean life is over for inline speed of outdoor roadskating!!! We have created a new event. The 1st Annual Barbary Coast Roller Marathon will take place in San Francisco on Sunday, July 10, 2016. This is a 26.2 mile skate race along San Francisco?s Ocean Beach. There is also a 13.1 mile half marathon with the event. With the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, skaters will race along the four (4) mile road course on the Great Highway. You will not experience a more fun, exciting skating weekend as the one we are planning for you in one of America's greatest cities, San Francisco. The action begins on Friday, July 8 with the world famous San Francisco Friday Night Skate. It's the most fun you can have with your cloths on!!! We will roll into Saturday with the sponsor expo and roller disco party at the Church of 8 Wheels, San Francisco's Roller Disco This has been dubbed as the hottest night spot in the City winning 5 "Best of the Bay" awards in 2 years. San Francisco!!! On Sunday we will race at the Great Highway with the awards presentation at the Skater's Showcase at noon at Skatin' Place in Golden Gate Park. Please join me in San Francisco the weekend of July 8. 9 and 10, 2016. We will use this event to show the world that skating is here to stay!!! You can register for the event and find more info at http://www.skategoldengate.com Keep Rollin', D. We just pulled the trigger on flights... was waiting to hear the final "GO" on this! So happy to see Dave making this happen for skaters.
![]() Okay, forum skaters, who else is coming to SF for the Barbary Cost Marathon?

I got plane tickets this morning. Excited! Can't wait!
Any other SkateLog people planning to go? David Miles says that this two mile stretch was repaved about a year ago, so it should be reasonably good quality. It's two lanes wide in each direction, plus a left turn lane, making for a five lane wide 180 degree left turn every two miles. |

Hopefully it's not too windy, but it will all be side wind. Perhaps I should put up a sail or some sort, or turn my body 45 degrees for beam reach:-)
