Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Default skate up grades

I have just got back into sk8ing and bought a pair of Riedell Carrera's with sure grip Carrera wheels now I'm wanting to upgrade the wheels, I bought some Bones super reds bearings. Now I'm looking at the labeda stilettos, the RBT's and the Faster skate wheels all in the white (natural) 97a. What are your thoughts on these wheels ? I love the Scott's but price and wait puts them out...

Welcome back.

New, or used?? Those have been out of production for ~ 10 years.

now I'm wanting to upgrade the wheels, I bought some Bones super reds bearings. Now I'm looking at the labeda stilettos,

I like mine but I think they are over priced. They have always seemed to roll a bit slower than I think they should for the advertised durometer.

the RBT's

May be the best bang for the buck out there, if ya don't mind the narrower width. The roll awesome and grip much better than you would expect, at least under all the circumstance I have rolled them under. I have 92s 97s and 101s.

and the Faster skate wheels all in the white (natural) 97a.

I have heard good things about those from someone that knows his stuff but I have never rolled the white ones..

One of the reasons I have never put much effort into rolling the Fasters is I have some of those near impossible to get Scott's.

Thanks doc I have had them about eight or nine years I bought them went skating twice and didn't start skating again until Feb. this year so they are still like new. Now I go once a week and want to upgrade to something with better role and aluminum hub instead of nylon because I weight 205. I've always liked the natural color of the labeda's over the bright white of the others, what would you recommend. I just want a good quality wheel.

Perhaps you may have run across my wheel advice before?? Since I know nothing about how you sk8, how your action is adjusted or how your floor behaves, I might as well throw darts. The best way to decide this stuff is talk to other sk8rs. If they are rolling what you are interested in some of them might even be willing to share.
