Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. I think it's time I admitted that I too have SEDS (refuse to say "suffer from" as it'sa not like that).
Currently trying to persuade my other half that spending around $350 on a new pair of skates for me (built and mounted by myself) is a good idea... Of course, the build I'm planning is very british: Bauer RX:05 boot (can't really afford the $600 for RX:60's) Playmaker trucks Belair Hockey Wheels Variflex Cloud cushions ACS 651 hangers |

I have a "few" pair of inlines as well... SEDS does not discriminate...

Took a while but went from something I could justify to full blown pretty damn fast.
In the Waiting For (delivery) stage with a little of I Need the Money for That too Now. And I Want it Now is making me a little feverish. Can't wait for the next stage- The High. ![]() Also experiencing a High while waiting. Got the sweetest things and am Very happy but want to put my dream set up all together -and must wait a little longer!

So, I went and got the RX-05's and built them (but with SG Zoom wheels)...
Now I have an urge to buy myself a pair of Bonts... Looking at getting a pair of Quadracers with possibly XK-4 DA45 plates?

Yep! also one of the hardest to kick! you just keep going back for more, even when you know you don't need them. Now I really am going to run away and hide before Doc finds me.
![]() TOO late!! Gotcha ![]() J/K J/K Actually I don't mind SEDS victims discussing their symptoms.. It can actually help others figure out they are missing out on some form of the affliction... ![]() ![]()

Thank you for defining my diagnosis.
I have a secret bank account for my SEDs disease. I thought that as soon as I bought one pair it would be ok, but then I bought another. Now I am saving for Harlic boots. (Who knows what plates are going on those.) I also came to the conclusion that I want a set of speed skates, maybe some of those really cool shoe skates that I don't know the name of but have wooden wheels... In the mean time I am buying my daughters new skates... SEDs by proxy? I cant wait for their feet to grow again. Maybe I'll shop some today?

Mmmmm, Harlick. I miss my Harlick figure skating boots. having said that, my sweetie is going to pony up for Riedell ColorLab figure skate boots & blades for Xmess for me. Is it SEDS when I'm on the injured list (not supposed to be skating AT ALL) and I keep on buying skate stuff? I'm up to seven or eight sets of wheels and am going to seriously upgrade the plates on my 265 boots since trashing the trucks on my right skate on Halloween...... I have a disease, that's for sure. |

Haha, I don't think they're that expensive to start. Paramount makes them and the base ones are the Mid Freestyles starting at about $225. A lot less than the Wilson Gold Seal K-Picks that I have now. And they're not even purple!
