I think we can get to a solid team, maybe not by the 31st (for instance, I very well may be a yes but won't know until the family sits down and plans our summer), but we should be able to get there eventually. Even if only 2 of the five maybes eventually said yes we'd only need to recruit 2 more people to get to 7. Very doable. 10 would be better.

Dev - life changes so much and so often, you might be surprised by what happens between now and July. That's quite a while away! Don't throw in the towel yet.

Sorry you're out Dev.

I've added another "possible". Michael would like to do the relay but is initially unsure if he can swing it. He'd be a good fit for the top end of the Fitness category.

How does everyone think we should share information among team members? Stuff like travel arrangements, training, strategy, what skaters and support people we could get, etc. A separate thread? Email? SLF PMs are limited to 5 people at a time. A separate thread would be easiest and best for future reference, but strategy and probably some other things should be kept private.

Team members... do I have your OK to share your email addresses with other members of the team?

I will probably arrive in Montreal on Thursday and fly home on Monday. FYI, WestJet has the cheapest flights but Air Canada has more departure times and more non-stop flights. Not sure who else flies into Montreal. The United Airlines flights are operated by Air Canada.

My travel info so far:

> Flying Delta Airlines from Montreal, through Atlanta, to Orlando on Monday
> No hotel arrangements made, yet

Thanks,

FYI, when I go to Mtl for work I usually stay at Le Square Phillips Hotel, at 1193 Place Phillips. (514-393-1193) the rooms are clean and HUGE. It is very close to the train station, and Rue Ste-Catherine which is where much of the night action in Montreal seems to be. (Not that you guys will make much use of that.)

Anyway its a decent hotel in downtown. Sorry I don't know what is available close to the track, but Montreal does have a fairly decent Metro (subway). There are maps here:

http://www.stcum.qc.ca/English/metro/a-mapmet.htm

In fact, there is a Metro station at Avenue Viger and Cote Du Beaver Hall (gotta love a city that started French became English then went back to French).

Judging the Montreal Subway map, there is also a Metro station at Jean-Drapeau park, or Ile Ste-Helene. (That is where the race is.)

and the Square Phillip is here:

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en...m=1&iwloc=addr

Montreal is a wonderful place in the summer. I particularly like the lesson in Canadian history available on the side of every mail box. (Here is a hint, Bill 101 is a law in Quebec which states that French is the language of Quebec and all other languages, in print, must be smaller and of less visability than French. The challenge is see if you can detect that in the mail boxes, the sides of buildings, highway overpasses, etc.) Sorry, I rant, its a very 'anglo' thing to do.

Michael

Just checked the Montreal 24-Hour website, there are already 25 recreation teams, 12 fitness teams, 1 elite team, and 11 soloists registered. That means the race is already half full and its only the start of February (26 degrees outside). Good thing Kathie and Jessica registered the SL team.

Hey guys, just saw this exciting project, I am so exctatic.

I live in Tampa but was born and raised in Montreal. I go back once in a while, best city in the summer, festivals, night life, restaurants from any place in the world...people got to live after being frozen for 6 months.

I still don't know if I can really make it but I really want to. I could definitely guide you trough the city and meet some locals...

I've got a few projects going (building a sailboat, starting a business) I am affraid to spread thinner and thinner.

Anyway, I will do the squiggy marathon next month, maybe I'll see you there.

To be continued...

Sebastian

sk8r -

That's great, hope that you can make it to Montreal. If you have not already done so, check out the other Montreal 24-Hour thread at http://www.skatelogforum.com/forums/...ead.php?t=1371.

Jessica and I will be at the Disney marathon, will you be there?

I think our "possibly in" list got a bit off. Dev Gnoll had to take himself off and Doug's friend Michael was added. I think we look like this now:

SKATERS DEFINITELY IN
01) Jessica
02) Don Patton - FLIGHT BOOKED
03) MNGreene (Doug)
04) chuckboucher (Chuck)
05)
06)

Does that look right? Chuck, I moved you out of 10th place. What were you doing way down there? lol... hope you don't mind being promoted.
