Default RSS Feed for the SkateLog Forum

Kathie, have you considered implementing RSS for the forums here?

There are a few select forums that I follow, and I would much prefer being able to use a reader to be alerted of new posts in those specific forums vs. checking back when I remember to.

Thanks!

Does anybody know of an automated way to create an rss feed out of posts in a vBulletin forum without installing any unofficial vbulletin mods or hacks? It would be a nice enhancement to this forum if we could figure out how do it.

Hi Kathie,

It looks like it's available "out-of-the-box": http://www.itamer.com/vbulletins-inbuilt-rss-feeds/248/

Wow, that is so cool nutritious! I'm out of town
for another week, but when I'm back home I will
set that up. Thanks!

Is this what you guys had in mind?

SkateLog Forum Feed
http://www.skatelogforum.com/forums/external.php

I think now I need to install a feed icon on my site
so people can click on it and subscribe to the feed.
Looking into that...

Kathie,

I had the impression that nutritiouspigs' original intent was for us to be able to see only those threads with replies that had been subscribed to by the viewer in question. Basically, a more refined RSS feed catering to each users' preferences.

For instance, if a thread I subscribed to had a new post, I would be informed of that. That way I could stay abreast of the thread, or threads, in which I am interested in.

Your RSS link shows all new posts. That is what we already have with the "New Posts" link that exists in the header up above. Right?

Subscribing to threads is different then subscribing
to an RSS feed. You can subscribe to any thread
from within the SkateLog Forum, or you can set up
the user control panel (User CP) to subscribe you
to every thread you start. I *think* nutritious pig
wanted an actual RSS feed, but he can correct me
if I'm wrong. In any case, we can do both!

I'm just learning about setting up RSS feeds for a
vBulletin forum, so if anyone has any tips for me they
will be very welcome. What I would like to do next is
figure out how to generate code that will display our
new RSS feed on the SkateLog Forum home page at
http://www.skatelogforum.com.

You should start a forum for technology questions and answers. You'll most likely get all your answers once the geeks spot it!!
