*** The SkateLog Forum Has Been Replaced by SkateDebate Dot Com ***

This announcement is to let everyone know that after hosting the SkateLog Forum and its predecessors for nearly 20 years, I have decided it is time to permanently turn the forum over to a new owner and administrator. I cannot think of anyone more suitable to take on that role than my SkateLog forum co-host, Florida skater Jessica Wright. I am pleased to announce that Jessica has agreed to establish and host a brand new skating forum, configured like the SkateLog Forum, but with a new name and a new Web Site. This new forum is 100% owned and operated by Jessica.

Default Paris Friday Night Skate - Largest In the World?

I ready someplace that the Paris Friday Night Skate had 28,000 skaters at their largest night skate. Is that true? Here is more information about the event:

Video Clips: Paris Friday Night Skate on YouTube
Article: Inline Skating in Paris on Friday and Sunday
Article: Left Bank Skating, In-Line and En Masse
Article: Elisa Marie's Paris Friday Night Skate Experience
Official Web Site: Pari-Roller.com

Has any other group skate in the world had as many skaters as the Paris Friday Night Skate? Have any you ever done that skate? What is it like?

Only 8,000 skaters on the night when I skated the Pari-Roller in September last year.

There is often more people at the sunday afternoon Paris Skate, as it's open from beginners/familly and it's a smooth 20 km treck in the street of Paris.
From the organizers:
"29.000 in 99, in 2006 1.000 (winter) et 10.000 (june july)."
Should be one of the bigest, organized during the whole year (as the friday one).

I was going over the web site for the association; they even got cops on rollerblades to cover the skate! I'm definitely going to make sure my next trip to Paris coincides with one, I'm dying to attend!

Yes, I know this is an old thread.

I have been to 6 of these in the 1999-2001 time period. I can confirm that it did hit the 28,000 number stated above and was regularly in the 20,000 range. I think the smallest I saw on a Friday night Pari-Roller skate was 10,000. I'm surprised that (as stated above) the Sunday daytime skate is now larger. Back then it was ~5000 people, and the level of skateness was lower.

I landed here in searching to find out how well attended the Friday night skate is now. Does anyone know?
