Default Reviews section

Wondering if we could have a section strictly dedicated to reviewing skate products. It could have a few sub-sections like quad speed, inline speed, artistic, and so on. It may even include sub-sub-sections like quad speed plates, artistic plates, and recreation inline skates. It could give *everyone a chance to praise and gripe about their stuff as well as put it all in one convenient place for people who are searching for a new speed plate, but are reading up on say a proline and then they read about some old U3's and decide to go that way. Might be a fun new facelift for the site and I bet it would be hopping the first couple months where everyone wants to review all their best stuff.*
It could even be segmented down into specific parts where one thread is all about prolines for instance under the quad speed plate category and everyone who has something to say about them would add to that thread.*
My fav Bowling forum bowlingballexchange.com does it like that and I believe the reviews are the most read section.*
Just a thought

It sounds like a bloody nightmare!
What do we do most in all the other forums?
We review and argue the merit of every bit of skate related gear to ever get rolled.
No one would use another forum the same way nobody uses the Accessories forum.

I like this idea, but only with rules:

1) The posts assessing product performance, excluding questions, need to come from those who actually own, have owned, or have personally tried the items being reviewed, and have really skated with the items long enough to give them a fair evaluation.

2) Reviewers should include a PIC of their version of the item, if possible.

3) Limit the amount of "peanut gallery" critiquing and opining from non-owners, and from those who have had no actual "feet-on" experience with the items under review (this includes ME too).

Agreed w/ 1 and 2, but the 3rd would be impossible to moderate. You'd have to have someone on all the time just to do that. While the general public may help with it, it depends who the source is too if people are going to respond with reliable info or if people would respond with troll responses.

But thats what we do in the other sections anyways...

Yeah, it would have to be the honor system with group pressure as the only enforcement.

Does it really need a sub-section of each sub-section? Why can't people just preface the title with [REVIEW] in the appropriate subsection?

It would also be good to have a standard set of review subheadings for the posts to minimise the waffle and standardise the reviews.

This may sound good in theory, but I think you will probably just end up having to use to search function to research whatever equipment you are interested in. I could be wrong, but I don't think most people are going to want to be too structured on how we talk about skate equipment. I know I wouldn't. It's not like we are getting paid and we have to do it our bosses way or something, ya know?

Usually around here, you just need to take the information in whatever format that whoever is giving the information to you feels like putting it in. Or, if you can't find exactly what you are looking for, you could always start another thread and ask whatever you want to know specifically. Or just start a thread on what your favorite plate, wheel, boot, bearing is and why.

The the product being reviewed should be in the latest production configuration, not an experimental one.
