Hello K2Sk8er,

I signed up for the half marathon months ago and I just recently made the transition from rec skates to speed skates. In mid April I received my Bont Z's.

The first time on them I got some serious blisters that have prevented me from going skating since... I was so excited when I got them that I skated without socks for 5 miles! I didn't even lace them, I put them on my feet so fast!!! I felt the pain once I stopped but the damage had been done. Those 5 miles have sidelined me since. I imagine another 7 days or so and the blisters will be completely gone, they were pretty severe.

I wanted to really just learn to skate in the speed skates first and worry about the speed later. I figured that since I received them in April I'd have a solid month of trial and error, which would help me come Napa. But I just ran out of time. Since then I've had the boots stretched and heat molded (Thanks Glenn!) to better fit my feet. Throughitall, I will be in Napa on Sunday!

I feel your pain - been on my Z's for 6 months and just now getting to a point where I feel like we've 'bonded'. Like so many others have said; you don't break the boots in - they break you in. Stick with it, it's worth it!!!

Due to spending to much cash on new skates, wheels, frames and skates and a bike for my grandson I had to skip it this year.
But I sent my girl friend with her husband in my place, If you can meet Chuck and Janet Hensley they can explane that.
Make sure you let us know how you do.
