Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Default Color lab vs redline

So a few months ago I tried to order some new white redline 395's, and was told that it wasn't available anymore, are the colorlab skates similar quality to the redlines? I thought I had read somewhere that when you upgrade to color lab they give you a better quality leather similar to the red line.

You must be dealing with a really inept dealer. Or someone that wants to sell you what is on his shelf. My price list (Dec 7 2015) shows the redline w/ white or black kangotan leather and red EVA foam midsole as an option. Not all the color lab leathers fall into the "nice" category, although I have seen most of them and they do. You will have to do your homework to find out if the colors you want are available in the really soft leathers.

The dealer was square cat skates, I ordered a wide width White 395 redline through there website, and after about three weeks they emailed me saying the white 395 boot was not available in redline, you want the black. I told them I had to think about what I wanted to do next, because I really had no desire to get another pair of black boots, asked for a refund. Just got my money back ,took about 5 weeks and I had to contest the sale with paypal to get it. They never returned any of my emails, very unprofessional to say the least.

When I ordered the boots I was at a rink with no pro shop, now I travel a bit farther but the floor is better and they actually sell skates and parts so I would love to support the local rink, just want to have my ducks in order before I talk to him.

So I was thinking about a Gray boot with a white flap/tongue. The owner of the rink I go to wasn't there last night, so I'll see him Saturday to see what his prices are.

Default Support the local rink.

But be prepared for sticker shock. Your idea would be a color lab boot. Should be no sweat.
