Yup...my family was exclusively quad skaters (my parents owned West Heidelburg) until the early 90's when some of us youngens crossed over to the darkside for speed, hockey and aggressive skating.

Nick and I used to go to the ice rink they'd set up each year at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.....don't know if they still do it. There was ice...under a few centimeters of water. It was fun. The Icehouse though seems bloody expensive.

Has your family disowned you now that you've defected to the dark side

And terra i am pretty sure they stopped the ice at music bowl bout 98/99 when the arsehouse opened

That would be awesome!
Haven't done the ice thing for years.

And I would love to do an organised Melbourne skate, but like Terror said, it will come down to times and kid management!
Though he is pretty keen to give the skates a go again, I just have to build a new set for him.

My family realised that they were going to have to embrace inline if there was any hope of staying in the business, so we were accepted. Not that it really worked because inline took a lot of the recreational skating outdoors in the 90's and hence the West Heidelberg closure.

Ice has always been expensive compared to roller. I can barely come at the $12 for Tusday night at Eltham let alone the $19.50 at Icehouse (Oakliegh was $18 last time I was there, but you couldn't get me on there for $10). That where tight-a$$ Tuesday and own skates at Icehouse is great. Half price entry brings it under $10. The dissapointing part is I have to choose between Eltham and Icehouse, but Eltham usually wins as much fun as ice is.

At the rate my team is going in Silver Cup (2 wins and a draw in the first 3 games...3 games left) we are a good chance at finals, so potentialy no Carribean for me next weekend...touch wood.

Red face Heads up...

Hi all, "I fought the floor, and the floor won" LOL

If you are coming to Caribbean Rollerama next Sunday, maybe bring some wheels with a bit of grip.
I usually skate my 95a Atom Dubs there... yesterday, while speed skating, I crashed down at Pirate Pete's corner doing cross-overs, my left leg slid under me towards the wall & I hit the floor (its the corner diagonal to DJ booth).

Broke a back tooth in half & now have a black egg-bruise on my chin. Elbow, hip & sernum are sore & bruised, too. Luckily, I always wear knee & wrist guards. Nothing broken Arrrr! After retrieving the tooth off the floor, fellow skaters checked I can still smile , I went back to finish the speed skate song.

Feeling it today!!! Dentist tomorrow
I'll still be at the rink next Sunday, just might be taking it a little bit easy.
Anyhow, that means I get to have a good chat to you all
You'll know who I am... just look for a purple chin.

P.S. Rollerama manager told me they're re-painting the floor in February.

Red face ^ Ouch ^

Brocken back tooth, sounds like you went down really hard there, I mean when they say lets hit the floor for the speed skate I don't think they mean it literally
Great effort for getting back up and finishing off the speed skate though, that's pretty cool.
Good to hear that their rollin a new surface, it needs it! I wonder when it was done last?
And thanks for the wheel advice, I have two choices Scotts 96 fj's or 96 Deano's so fingers crossed they don't slip too much.

Anywho, look forward to meeting everyone who goes it should be a good day.

Hi, I'm still coming on Sunday, but will take it super-duper easy...
Costochondritis (inflammation of the cartilage connecting rib bones to sternum) & between-rib pain got worse... dammit, fell harder than I thought LOL, 100% floor biter

Mate, if I get out for a rink skate tomorrow, it will be at Sunshine.
15 min drive and a better rink, or 120min and a nice floor, but not for me.
But have fun everyone.

Smile Woo-hoo!!!

Ha, a great day at Caribbean today. Hardly any wall-crawlers. Plenty of space, only one kiddie party. Got to meet the marvellous Maxxi, Jackbqwikn and his wonderful family. Great skaters and cool skates. I had a ball. Sorry Big Nick and Terror couldn't make it, but I'm gonna try a visit to Sunshine soon, and Eltham too. Inlina, how did your team go at Silver Cup finals?

I'm going to Sunshine next Saturday, Terror has training so I don't think she will make it.
Hope you all had fun today though.

Hey Chilli, it was a good day today at Caribbean, it was nice to meet you and some of your skating buddies, I had heaps of fun skatin with ya.
The floor wasn't that slippery today, my 96a Scott Super Ds hooked up nicely.

You know your just gonna have to come out our way one day now
And it would be good to make it out there a few more times also.
