The Drake is right at the north end of the Mag Mile. Across from Oak St. Beach and as downtown as you can be. The bar there is worth having a drink at even if you're not staying there. The Drake would be perfect. If you've ever been to the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, it's kind of like that.

Default Host Hotel Info

Here's the info on the host hotel. Expo and packet pickup will be there as well.

The Host Hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn, Hoffman Estates. You will be able to walk or skate from the hotel to the race. They are holding 50 rooms for skaters until 2 weeks before the event. The room rate will be $99 with a $10 fee for a second person. This will include the room and a full order breakfast for 2 on the morning of the race. They will open the breakfast at 5:30am.
This is a business hotel, and because of that 2/3 of their rooms are 1 king size bed only ($5 extra for a cot). They have a big wedding there that weekend, and the double rooms will be used up on a first come first serve basis. So get your room early. Packet pickup, registration, and vendors will be there too.

Hilton Garden Inn
2425 Barrington Road
Hoffman Estates, IL 60195
847 277 7889
There will be a reference number to give to get the skaters rate. This will be posted at Chicagoland Inline Marathon

Major,

Will there be registration and race packet pickup on the day of the race?

I think so, but it's highy encouraged to be registered before race day. There will be registration at the hotel on Friday night.

Sorry, I mispoke/mistyped. I would definitely preregister, always do as I would think it makes it easier on the organizers to have a clearer number of all those attending. I really meant to ask if race packets could be picked up on the day of the race.

Default Race Course

How about the course, If memory serve me correct wasn't last year's race in Mundelein? How does this year's course compare? Will it be a point to point, a circuit where you have to do laps, or a down and back?

We're still ironing out the details but it will be a looped course. Most likely 3 laps for a full marathon so a little different from last year. I think the course will be more skater friendly. It will be completely closed to traffic. Everything will be closer to the course. With inline warehouse as the title sponsor and now being part of NROC it will be a fantastic event. I hope you can make it.

This event looks really appealing, I thought about driving back from Lincoln last year, I even asked the Major about it... lets see how it fares for this season. so far not many races in my agenda...

I do plan on making it. I grew up in Chicago and still have family in Evanston. We'll probably make a family trip out of it. Isn't the Taste of Chicago going on then also? That would be a great place to go... after the Race.

Edit: Oops. The Taste is June 27 -July 6. Missed it by one month.

Packet pickup on race day -- yes!!! We were talking about Chicago tonight (Joel & I) and are 90% certain we'll be there. Our tentative plan is to travel to Chicago Friday and stay at the Drake. Then on Saturday morning drive to the race, after which we'll go back to downtown Chicago for a few more nights.

Default 4 days left

Only 4 days left for the early bird price. Registration increases by $5.00 on March 1st, from $45 to $50. On June 1st the cost goes up to $60 so don't wait too long. You know you're going to come to Chicago, so you may as well sign up now. The course is being finalized and will be posted soon. No big hills and only 3 laps for a full marathon. Flight to Chicago are generally pretty cheap from anywhere. Although it's a little further from the race site, Southwest has some really great deals but only flies into Midway.
Make sure you book your hotel reservations early at the host hotel It's right on the course so it's the best place to stay.
