Count: 34 Activities
Distance: 396.39 mi Time: 33:47:08 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 9,251 ft Avg Speed: 11.7 mph Avg HR: 127 bpm Calories: 22,781 C Max Distance: 71.20 mi Max Avg Speed: 15.0 mph Actual totals are slightly higher. My Garmin 310xt ate the track log for the Rolling on the River Marathon. August should have been slightly higher than July but I lost a full week due to shingles. The week that followed was also reduced rate. Yesterday was the last long training session before A2A and should have been near full distance. For a variety of reasons, I had to cut it to 63 miles. |

Count: 38 Activities
Distance: 397.71 mi Time: 36:37:06 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 7,077 ft Avg Speed: 10.9 mph Avg HR: 125 bpm Calories: 22,829 C Max Distance: 51.30 mi (botched New York 100K) Max Avg Speed: 17.0 mph (Northshore Inline Marathon) Slightly more than August but nowhere near July. It is peak race season so this includes Northshore and New York 100K. Somewhat counter-intuitively, racing means that I skate slightly less and noticeably fewer miles. |

September 2014
Skate Sessions = 10 Miles = 145.24 Way down from my usual monthly average but September is always busy for me at work. Sept 2014 was better than Sept 2013 though (7 sessions 89.13 miles) so I am happy about that. Still on a good pace to beat last years total count. |

Count: 39 Activities
Distance: 463.54 mi Time: 45:58:16 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 12,857 ft Avg Speed: 10.1 mph Avg HR: 124 bpm Calories: 27,558 C Max Distance: 84.41 mi Max Avg Speed: 14.3 mph Max Distance is actually 87 miles. I absentmindedly turned off the Garmin when paused to determine if I was still on course between checkpoints 4 and 5. This month is a mix of late race season and early off-season. Athens to Atlanta, the last race came right in the middle. I've cut my Sunday workout back to my baseline 39 miles but I've kept doing "double" commutes as I think this is the most effective hedge against fitness loss and waist line expansion as I head into the rainy/reduced activity/increased eating season. Mileage wise, October came in slightly greater than May, when I started to really ramp up. |

Count: 36 Activities
Distance: 469.89 mi Time: 44:40:18 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 12,867 ft Avg Speed: 10.5 mph Avg HR: 121 bpm Calories: 27,434 C Max Distance: 38.95 mi Max Avg Speed: 14.0 mph That's the official tally: very slightly less than October and all skating. Unofficially, I did another 13 miles on the bike, which I failed to record and a 7 mile hike which I did record but which Garmin Connect refuses to include in the total. Altogether, pretty successful at forstalling Winter deconditioning. However, the rains have really begun now. Nada for the last two days of the month. Today, I expected to skate home from work but the rain came later and harder so it was too wet when the time came. I hoofed it. Better than nothing but experience has shown that walking lacks the needed intensity to make a good workout. |

Weather and Holidays conspired for somewhat fewer miles in December with more of that being cycling.
Count: 35 Activities (20 skating, 13 cycling) Distance: 420.17 mi (313.3 skating, 100.92 cycling) Time: 40:10:49 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 10,397 ft Avg Speed: 10.5 mph Avg HR: 117 bpm Calories: 23,704 C Max Distance: 38.98 mi Max Avg Speed: 13.3 mph And for all of 2014 Count: 449 Activities Distance: 5,128.06 mi Time: 528:21:20 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 149,111 ft Avg Speed: 9.7 mph Avg HR: 119 bpm Calories: 300,135 C Max Distance: 84.41 mi Max Avg Speed: 17.0 mph A little bit was cycling but up until September I did not consistently fix up the activity type after I uploaded so most of skates show up as cycling. |

Skating to work most days does get the miles and the activity count up.
Weather matters. In December, I had to mix in cycling but it stopped raining on Christmas Eve and not a drop has fallen since. January was all skating. Activities: 36 Distance: 427.86 miles Time: 41h:24m:1s Elevation Gain: 8,604 ft Avg Speed: 10.3 mph Avg HR: 119 Calories: 25,013 Max Avg HR: 148 Max Avg Speed: 13.7mph This isn't quite everything. About 20 miles of skating are missing due to gps glitches. Further, I'm not including about 15 miles of hiking. |
