Love this trail. Cannot say enough nice things about it. I've skated on it twice. Gorgeous scenery, bikers are respectful of skaters (for the most part). Kind of hilly but so worth it to try. Neuse River, Clayton Riverwalk and Sam's Branch Greenway combine to make 33 straight miles of pavement and boardwalk. One of the bridges is a little tricky (it's old and not flat) but overall the entire trail is well maintained. Anderson Point Park is almost right smack in the middle so you can fill up water there and pee (if you have to).

Agreed, the Neuse River Trail is great! I've skated the north side of it a few times, haven't made it down to the south side / Clayton / Sam's Branch yet. American Tobacco Trail in Durham is also good, but crosses more roads - Neuse River is preferable on that front.
