Tuesday, skated by myself at the dump, doing mostly drills. Really tricky to get the 100 work properly. Did a few sprints up and down the baby hills at the end.

Wednesday, indoor. Felt a little bit better than before, but still having problem turning. It so hard to get the 100s to going around the little circles. "Turn, f@#$@^* b#$%^...... turn, you m#$%@& f@##^@!". Pushed so hard that my legs were destroyed at the end of the practice. Looks like we'll be doing nothing but big & little circles for the coming weeks.

Thursday, outdoor at Okeeheelee. Kind of slow because of the legs..... and struggling to stay on the left heel all the time.

So far, it appears that I am marginally faster on the new set up than before (haven't time myself properly yet), due to 2 reasons. Stability while crossing over and more powerful push. But everything else seems to work against me. I couldn't recover properly, couldn't skate uphill properly, couldn't sprint properly, couldn't go around tight corner, couldn't set down on the outside edge and gets tired really quick. Looks like it's going to be a looooooooo.........ooooooong transition.

Can't hardly wait for the 24 hours...already working on our team! Looking forward to seeing you there Lawrence.

Today: 1 hour kickboxing class and 1/2 hour treadmill (boring).

One day last week I had a revelation. I don't have a problem, it's just my alter ego that is a Skataholic. So I sent him to the doghouse, and told him to stop talking about skating to anyone around me, and even in the forum he is banned from talking.
Now I just skate a little bit here or there just to retain what I built up, and to get the heart pumping once or twice a week.
Welcome back, and i could tell something was up (Am-Wings, no marathon, no responses to queries by others)
This is a fascinating subject and i think it deserves a thread of its own. How to cope with the obsession. Got to go right now to keep myself out of the doghouse, but i just got ordered off the computer, no kidding...

So true. It can be a very real problem.

Drove in to work as I have to work the company store...Why do the words "sold my soul" run through my head.

Tomorrow is probably going to be an off day. Sunday I'm going to the McDev irrespective of Madeline's health.

Yup

November 8

Outdoor practice, only got about 40 minutes in due to middle school track practice We got to skate in the dark for a while, which is always exciting.

November 9

27 mile bike ride at Flatwoods. I tried to keep a steady heart rate at around 150, and did it fairly well. Average heart rate 145 max 156. Average speed 17.4. It was sooooo coooooolllldddd brrrr.... even with three layers, a cap and gloves I was still shivering. Tonight I've got the kid so we might hit some tennis balls.

Three layers with gloves is for upper thirties/low forties.

I'll take your upper 40s...Then I could get away with two -- undershirt/jersey with arm warmers, bib shorts.

As somebody who grew up in the tropics then moved somewhere with actual seasons, I've got to stand up for Jessica here... once your body acclimates, the coldest you ever normally experience will come to feel like fifty below. I used to wear a long sleeved shirt and heavy jacket in sixty degree weather when I lived in Hawai'i.

This winter I'm realizing that speed skates have less insulation in them than fitness skates (duh!), and there just isn't room to add more socks. Might be a problem this year...

EZfit Wind/rain covers, although if I need them, I have to be on the lookout for ice.
