Default Minnesota Half Marathon - No Duathlon?

Am I reading this correct on the Minnesota Half Marathon webpages? I'm not seeing the duathlon as an option to register. A couple of their pages mention the duathlon but again not as an event to register. Can anyone confirm this? If so, why did they "du-away" with the chance to "du both"?

It's supposed to be hard. If it were easy everyone would do it. It's the hard that makes it great.

I noticed that myself. It was a really popular event and the only one of its kind. It was also the extra incentive I needed to show up. Maybe there's some insiders on this forum who can give us whatever their reason was for eliminating it.

I contacted someone in the know and received confirmation the duathlon has been eliminated. Apparently the extra work and added complications of tracking/timing the participants lead to the decision to eliminate the event.

Bummer...I had been training specifically for that event. I will probably still attend as I've always liked the MN Half-Marathon event in general but can't hide my disappointment. I respect the organizers' decision...as a participant I only see the final product and day of the race. I know there's a ton of work and time volunteered to make it happen. I remember from last year there were a number of problems with the duathlon results. Perhaps that was the last straw.

The timing cost probably did it in. Hope we don't see that as an issue for the skaters...
