Default NorthShore...how are the road conditions?

The last time I participated up at NorthShore was 2012. That was the year the first 5-6 miles had been freshly repaved. Those first few miles (and the tailwind) were awesome. The remainder of the race included the typical good and bad conditions. The tunnels in 2012 were better than 2011 (very bad) as they had re-shaped the groves.

Since it's been a few years for me, how have the road conditions been in recent years? Are there any areas worth knowing about (either good or bad) heading into this year's event?

Thanks

It's supposed to be hard. If it were easy everyone would do it. It's the hard that makes it great.

They repaved the next 7 or so miles so the whole first half of the race is new or newish pavement. The second half is the same tar-snake wonderland that it has been for a few years now.
