Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Default source for parts.

I am looking for the sewn in strap holder. The piece that is sewn into the flap. For a powerslide boot. I have looked for them with out success. These pieces do not hold up very well. I broke one on a new boot the first time I put the skates on.

I'm looking for basically the same thing. The straps on my Core XXX boots are done.
I will be watching this thread for the outcome.

But I think most universal strap holders that are sewn in to use sidi type strap/buckles, are the same ones used on the older 911's. It is the piece that holds the male end of the strap, the part that is permanently sewn to the boot flap.

Moral of the story: Don't use the straps to tighten your boot. Use your laces to tighten, use the straps to hold down the laces.

Other than that one Verducci boot with buckles/velcro and no laces (and maybe some others), the straps shouldn't be used to tighten a boot. They're just not strong enough to handle the pressures we put on them. Even if the ladder and buckle can be replaced, it's just one more thing to fail right before a race.

We were actually talking about this at practice tonight, fairly un-related, but the Bont Buckle kit has the "loop" you need. http://shop.bont.com/collections/acc...s/products/947

It's basically the same thing, should fix you up.

Default on the new boot

The strap loop failed before I got it tight. My wife took the boot to a "boot shop" and the first time It was fixed correctly. The guy sold out his boot/leather shop to another guy. He messed up the second repair completely. I had no more spares. The second boot was my fault, too tight and was still having issues converting to inlines. It broke under the pressure of not staying on top of the blade. Trying to correct bad form by tightening does not work.

I have no idea if they'll have what you need, but Strapworks has an awful lot of that sort of stuff (and a ton more). Not affiliated, just passing on the link...

No offense, but different kind of strap. Products on that site seem to be just about all nylon belt related, like for duffel bags, life jackets, helmets, safety harnesses, etc.

He needs a fairly specific mounting receptacle for a fairly specific plastic latching strap that feeds in to a fairly specific buckle. When I say fairly specific I mean in measurement and type. There are numerous manufacturers of these types of buckles and straps, though most use a similar if not identical mounting receptacle.
