Awesome F2B!

I thought you were the VERY last aggressive park/pool inline skater regardless of age.

Very exciting man. Knock em dead bro!

Got back into skating for fitness and cross-training about a week ago, for the last week of April. 3 sessions for a total of 27.7 miles in 3:28:21.

Total distance down a hair owing mostly to a rained out Sunday. I've also started doing a Monday hike which if fewer miles than if I had skated on that day.

I need to get in some more *fast* skating. The courses I have been doing don't really lend themselves well to that. Too much stopping and slow pavement.

On a side note. I recently learned that the Garmin Connect bug that I've been fighting more that two years and makes gathering totals by activity type painful is browser specific. Bad with Firefox. Works fine with Chrome. Ugh! Another example of how Webkit is becoming the new IE. Web developers are coding for a specific layout engine rather than the standard and getting away with it!

56 miles for 5h08m in April for average speed of 10.9mph (that includes the breaks). Fifty miles is probably a reasonable monthly target for me, as I usually only get to skate on the weekends. So I hope to repeat it this month.

Lucked out with the weather. The rest is up to me. All these miles on fancy freestyle slalom skates too, not speed skates. It is highly unlikely I will ever break this monthly total skating in South Louisiana with normal weather. I also cycle to work every day as a given (I am car free). So that adds 200 miles on a bicycle each month minimum (10 miles round trip 5 days a week).

The numbers:

The skates:

May was a blow out month in terms of volume, nearly 200 miles over April and only the second month ever recorded over 600 miles. I have to all the way back to June 2013 to beat it. That monster month bested May by 45 miles. Still, 640 miles ought to be enough for anybody.

The funny thing is, up until the last week, I really wasn't trying. I was getting in my skating when I could to balance the days when I could not. I guess the disruptions just weren't as disruptive as I expected and I overcompensated. I also learned to chain two routes together that have different but slightly overlapping usable times thus allowing longer skates with less perfect scheduling.

Micro analysis isn't bad either. Average skating speed is up 0.3 mph. Still, I need to be careful. My last three Sunday workouts have been progressively slower. Not good.

For June, I want to keep a lid on the volume and focus more on speed. I did several big skates in May without much rest between them. I need to space low volume days between the big rolls.

May was a pretty poor month for me. Lots of rain. 3h of skating for 28 miles. Most of that on only a couple of days. Bummer. Good job you other two!

October 2015 was 16.6 miles for me. I know the feeling.

Ya think!!!??? I have only bested that on cross-country bike tours where I get about 1000 miles each month on average. And that's without a real job. If I add in my bike commutes for May I get 555 miles total. I only GPS my skating miles so the 200 miles is probably on the low side for cycling total because I run errands on the bike too. But now I have to cut back to get things done that I let slide in May. Also the heat and humidity is cranking up on the Gulf Coast. June-Aug will see much less skating.

I'm quite impressed that you managed to get 355 miles without including the commute. I only get the miles that I do either because I'm not working (now) or I skate to work. While working at my last job, my miles each week consisted of:

1) 39 miles each Sunday
2) 10-20 miles of social night skates
3) 52 - 70 miles skating to and from work
4) a dribble of hiking
============

Total ~120 miles/week best case

Thanks. I commute mostly by bicycle. I could easily commute on skates or longboards using several different route possibilities, but the criminal element along the way would just be too anxiety provoking. We have more than our share of knuckleheads in New Orleans, USA.

Not quite half the year gone and I broke 1000 miles (inline skates and longboards). As I always say: "Skating is skating"

Spent almost the entire month on the longboard. Got 100+ miles on the board just last week, then switched to the skates. Last month was the reverse - almost all inline skates. A couple minor overuse injuries made me hang up the longboard and switch to the skates for the last two sessions. I wanted that 300 mile mark really badly.

Skating is skating.

Not quite the end of the month, but not going to get another skate in, since it will be raining next couple of days anyways. But overall, weather held out much better this month than last month.

7 sessions, 9h22m total skate time, for 104.2 miles. Yeah!

Doubt I will get that much in during July, busy summertime month coming up. I sure am itching to try out my new skates, though, just got them off the big brown truck last night!

Nice! Just wait until you get the new skates broken in!

I also quit early this month, partly due to weather and partly because I had a couple minor overuse injuries. So I won't be skating until after July 4th. After just 3 days off I am feeling better already

Cheers!

Definitely a notch down from May but I think that was necessary. Also, the interference that did not happen in May actually did happen in June. I lost several skate days on account of four all seminars, three interviews, and a trade show. Still, 544 miles is more than respectable.

Average speed is oddly down very slightly but I think that is due to a change in activity mix. My Sunday long workouts have been getting faster though still not as fast as I would like. The test comes in a week and a half in the form of the Barbary Coast Inline Marathon. It will be my first race of the season. Hopefully it will not the last but the interviews need to pay off to avert that outcome.

49h49m for the month of June.

During the month, 18 two a days and only missed 1 day due to injury.

Had a great three months of skating despite the heat, humidity and frequent rain. I skated a trifecta (or hat trick if you prefer "skating" terminology) of 300+ mile months and only one sore toe from too much pushing the longboard the whole month of June. Not bad for an old man.

3h48m for 39.6 miles in July.

Not too bad. Had a week of vacation, and a week of absurdly hot temperatures where I didn't skate at all. Finally got a skate in yesterday to finish off the month, and while good, ran into some wet pavement which seems to have done a number on my bearings. Have them sitting in mineral oil now, will try to hit them with PB Blast tonight and see if I can free them up.
