Default Pads. Any threads on what to use?

I tried a search using pads, but didn't find anything discussing types and which might be best. Did find out that I wouldn't be cool if I wore my knee pads outside of the pants.

This place has at least 14 models of each.

Never wore either and haven't the foggiest idea what I should be looking for. I am a beginning skater. First pair are on their way. Ordered the Hillbilly wrist glove (fingerless) based on research here. Not having any luck finding mention of specific elbow and knee pads.

Anyone with a suggestion or two? Thanks.

If you want to fall and feel nothing, the best pad by far is smith scabs! Pro designed are good too. Everything else will pale in comparison. If you want something slim, ask someone else lol.

I think that you are, and will continue to be, a rec/fitness skater. So I would go with something simple and not too expensive. The expensive bulletproof stuff you see is for aggressive skaters.

Based upon your note and your profile a couple notable treads on this forum you should read about pads come to mind. Sorry, yet you will have to look for the treads via search yourself.

pads "Kathie Fry" Helmet
Kathie started out wanting to discuss the importance of Helmet use in skating (particularly outdoor), yet this tread became a valuable tread as we all moved into wrist pads.

wrist Jessica
Jessica is a FL speed skater and had a nasty break.

pads ChuckBoucher
Chuck has his favorite and often enters into treads on this subject

I am pretty sure you can use search to find these treads.
I would give you RollerDudette's tread about butt pads yet you don't need her extreme level of protection for your butt.

Also look under the Roller Derby sub-forum, Louisiana PowerSnatch has some good notes about protection like knee pads.

Good Luck

Yours in Skating, MA/NY Dave

Edit-02: The below link should take you to a tread Kathie started. It was originally posted by Kathie in the Beginning Sub-Forum. I give it because using what I gave you above I couldn't find it. Again Good Luck.

Edit-03: Forgot about Roller Derby, Spelled Kathie's last name wrong.
