Sorry team.
Our team started with 10 -- we can't make it so that makes 8 -- 3 are students and probably can't make it so that makes 5 -- 4 are parents of the students & highly unlikely they'll attend and now we have 1. Maybe he'll go solo, but doubt it. This date change is quite annoying.

Wow, this really sucks - and here I was starting to think it was a good thing, because it would give me a little more time to come up with the money.

OK, I'm back in the probably category. I'm thinking I may just do Saint Paul, Montreal, A2A and skip North Shore (NSIM hasn't been all the good to me in the 2 years that I've done it).

If I got through all the ins and outs above, I think the potential team looks like what's listed below. Was Speedy still looking at going solo or with the team?

01. Jessica
02. Birgit
03. Don - probably
04. speedsk8r "Jan"
05. ONOU - interested
06. EStealth - "count me in"
07. Rich Bonnette - considering options
08. J Larson - maybe
09. K Larson - maybe

Throw me in as a maybe - I was pretty much ready to call it for sure but I got awesomely laid off Monday How quickly the job situation resolves itself and how well will determine things for me. On the plus side I can (and have been) skating a lot more and during the day

If we end up with 11, I'll go solo and let the rest form the 10-person team. If we end up with 14+, we can consider 2 teams of 7+.

It's not impossible with a team of 6 strong skaters. Last year one of the Toronto teams limited themselves to 6 members with no problems. But, they were all strong, experienced skaters. Our team could have done it with 6 skaters as well. We had 9 members and found the skating relatively easy.

Default Reason for September Date

I received this explanation from one of the members of the Montreal 24-Hour Organizing Committee concerning the switch from July to September:

There are a few reasons... all of which to say we had no choice in the matter.

However, this decision by Parc Jean-Drapeau is garanteed to make our event safer: all race-type events are moved either before mid-May or at the beginning of September due to the fact that there are many other events going on from Mid-May to the end of August (for ex. Formula 1, Nascar, and also local intiatives that attract a great number of people around the track (and which means lots of pedestrians, lots of cars leaving the parking lot). All to say, it is to simplify logistics, and also increase safety of the skaters!

The good thing is, the first available week-end in September was offered to the 24hrs Inline Montreal, because they appreciate our event.

We know that this will have an impact on all skaters, and even on the Organizing Committee itself. However, all the latter have confirmed their interest to persue organizing the 5th Edition, an Anniversary Edition for the 24hrs Inline Montreal in 2008!

Got the same explanation myself. But, unfortunately doesn't change the fact that our team is out!

If there's less traffic, does that mean they can eliminate the daytime detour through the Enchanted Forest? That would be nice.

Are you still going, Howard?

I was checking flights, and it's WAY cheaper for me to try and fly into Burlington, VT. Is anyone else thinking of doing that who may want to split on a rental car?

I'll be driving from Putnam County, NY. Burlington, VT is right on the way.
I'll have two or three seats empty, so you and anyone who choose this way can jump right in. We just have to schedule the timing. Station wagon would fit four people & luggage without problem I guess.

Very cool! I'm planning to get my ticket after the new year, so I'll keep you posted on times. Thanks again!
