The race happened last week and I saw no thread. I missed it this year due to life being busy, (and due to being slow and out of shape) but figured I'd throw a few links up for posterity.
InlineSkateMPLS story Perambulator's Helmet Cam Video Anyone else with a report to share - what did you think of the race this year?

Great race. They sold out of registrations, which is great news. I have posted a report on my blog. Kaari, a Twin Cities based longtrack skater, also posted a report on her blog. A direct link to my helmet camera footage follows for what happened during the open wave. After that is another video of the finish of the open wave front pack.

350, but I agree with ThePerambulator, I know of at least one person who missed out because there wasn't any day-of registration. I will say this, day-of packet pick up was a bit unorganized, so I imagine that day-of registration would have been equally as problematic.

It could have been insurance imposed limits or permits. In any event there's a lot of capacity planning that extends further than just the number of skaters the course can reasonably hold at one time.
Not that I was there, but I could see lots of reasons to cap it, especially that close to race day. Even the point about dealing with day-of registrations is perfectly valid, although announcing the limit to full or a cut off date (assuming it wasn't announced beforehand) sounds like it should have been done. |
