Can we add the North Carolina Skate Marathon on June 23, 2012, in Greensboro, NC?

Ok, I'm registered for Napa Valley & Northshore; hoping to add two more to that list... Any suggestions? (Due to $$$ I probably can't do more than one a month so that means July & Sept are booked... No Chicagoland or NYC 100k for me...) and Apostle is too expensive.

Oh common, you want the pain of the hills on the course for the Chicagoland Marathon. 8.7 miles of up and down pain/fun.

Rollerdome, just for the experience of it.
Apostle Island is supposed to be a great vacation race.

My schedule was going to be Rollerdome, London (still possible but unlikely), Chicagoland (my team's race), either Baxter or the Twin Cities Half or that bike race option in Michigan if it materializes, and NISM. Like you, I can only afford one race a month. London is an option because we may be there for vacation anyway. Those plans haven't been confirmed yet. We shall see.

The Washington Area Roadskaters (WAR) recently had our winter meeting. I had to work, but here is an interesting part of the meeting notes:

"This year we will have Skate of the Union WEEKEND on June 23/24. The weekend will include WAR Friday Night Skate, "racing and rolling on the RFK grand-prix course" on Saturday, and Skate of the Union Race on Sun"

The last couple years 3 time Olympian Nathaniel Mills has been learning the ropes in DC politics to get an additional shorter distance race event on the old RFK Stadium Grand Prix course the Saturday afternoon before the Skate of the Union Marathon. It sounds promising for this June. I'll keep you posted. Coach Nat currently runs the DC Ice program for youth in DC.

Yeah but it's about a 5 hour drive from Minneapolis to Madaline islands; that's too much. And flying into MN then catching a puddle jumper to Duluth puts us at about $600 each for airfare... The deal is that airfare has to be under $500 COMBINED.

I'm thinking Texas Road Rash. Not sure on Rollerdome but Baxter and Skate of the Union are also possibilities. I'd love to do Montreal - maybe next year.

Question for anyone who has done the Texas Road Rash; I'm trying to decide if I should do open or pro masters; if I do pro masters - does everyone skate together (men & women)? if so - do they allow cross drafting?

I usually prefer skating w/ the boys; there just seem to be more of them..

*EDIT - never mind, I went ahead and registered for pro masters!

What's the source of the June 10 date information? Their web sites yet say June 16.

I received inside information from a reliable Canadian last week that they are going to change the Montreal Inline Marathon date to June 10. My perception is the official date is June 10, but I'll change it to unconfirmed until they update their website.

Edit: I also understand Ottawa is still trying to figure out what to do. Traditionally it was Labor Day weekend, but Montreal 24 stole that date last year. Ottawa switched to early June last year, but now the Montreal Marathon is moving to June this year.

Latest update on the Montreal race as editted by the race organizer Phillipe Candelier himself: http://community.inlineplanet.com/ev...nd-races-event

The event listing was updated in mid January to reflect the June 9-10 race dates.

Thanks, all; the race I was referring to was other than Montreal, discussed in a post which has now been deleted.

Just a quick update on the Cherry Roubaix. They finally had their meeting and are blown away with how awesome skating is. This is good. I have to answer some more questions but so far things are looking really good. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get it nailed down.

Default Canada Day Marathon

I added the Canada Day Inline Marathon. It is an inline event only. It is a lot of fun, though I had left it off originally because it was cancelled last year due to road construction. It is an NROC race, though it looks like the race itself needs to be confirmed. If you don't know, Canada Day is July 1. It is kind of like the US July 4, but, umm, well, the Queen of England is still the head of state for Canada so it seems to not really be the same exactly.

Thanks for adding it. There's more in the March 8 Rumor Mill posting here:
http://speedskateworld.com/
Hope it works out; that group has put on good races in the past.

Default Montrea Marathon 5 person, 5 hour relay race

I just noticed the Montreal Marathon is having a 5 person relay race the day after the Marathon. Kind of a smaller version of the 24 hours. Sounds cool and $250 CAD to the winning team.

Ok I'm in for Apostle - my friend offered to drive from MN to Ashland so that makes it easier! Looking forward to seeing everyone.
